Yes it's a Holden. And as often happens it then gets re badged for other markets, like Chevrolet for the US, given the absence of Pontiac I guess, and now us, as we have Chevrolet here now too.

But I'm quite sure they'd sell more as the genuine article if they left the Holden badges on. But then they'd have to have a dealer network to go with it I guess. :(

Civvy version in states is the VXR8 based SS, V8 superdoopercharged. Which is nice :y

I know this tread is a little old but I never knew this modle existed until being in Saudi last week.  There's loads of nice motors (Dodge/Mustang etc) to oggle but then there's the Caprice.  I noticed it because close up there's not much difference in them and my Omega.  Lovely looking (sensible) motor.  Superb spec, nice engines... I'd love to have one of these (Lottery required).  In Saudi I've no idea what petrol actually costs but the Nissan that I had cost about £2.50 to fill from empty!!!!!!!

Tyres are probably cheap as well  ...and it was sunny... :(

About 17p a litre in Dubai.

As I recall, a vxr8 on lpg gives similar fuel figure to a v6 vectra diesel, going by Taxi Als figures. Given lpg Holden's are available from the factory, I see no reason to worry about economy.

My only issue is the initial cost of the uk model, the vxr8. I do balk at laying out more than 12k for a car. Tbh. Which is the bottom end of the market on these.

Caprice is nice though. Understated. I prefer the caprice rear lights to the vxr8 ones.

Yes it's a Daewoo Holden. And as often happens it then gets re badged for other markets, like Holden for Auatralia or Chevrolet for the US, given the absence of Pontiac I guess, but not us, as we won't have Chevrolet here anymore.

But I'm quite sure they'd sell more as the genuine article if they left the Holden Daewoo badges on. But then they'd have to have a dealer network to go with it I guess. :(

Fixed for a couple of years time!  ;)

It's just body plastic. Bodywork like bumpers, sills and grills are just swapped about on the Holden special vehicles production line.

But yes, I sort of agree.

If your going to buy one though, do so quickly, there's rumours of the next model being front wheel drive. Not sure I believe them mind you, but if so, prices could rise.

Looking at the Chevrolet site,  for 2014 it's the LS3 with 415bhp... thought it was meant to have the full fat 576 bhp blown lump as suggested when they anounced it...

Maybe GM pussied out of it :-\
