Title: Omega CDX 2.2 Petrol Auto Error Codes P0700 P0340 & P1700
Post by: 4door on 12 August 2013, 20:40:33
Evening,

Just seeking a little help and advice from fellow forum members.
I have recently bought a 52 plate 2.2 16v Petrol Auto Omega CDX with 89,000 on the clock. Its a tidy car and I'm hoping to get through her next MOT in the next 2 weeks. The car has been in limp mode since it was collected and I'm trying to work my way through the issues. My friends at the local garage have given it the once over and plugged it in to their Autodata diagnostics which initially reported the Crank Sensor had failed, a new GM one has been fitted but there are still 3 remaining error codes P0340, P0700 and P1700. I have read through the threads for these errror codes but was wondering which would be the best order to go about diagnosing / fixing the remaining faults.
Would it be best to replace the Cam Sensor next to see if the P0340 code clears and then plug into the gearbox ECU check for further causes of the P0700 and P1700 codes?
Would you recommend cleaning the selector switch as well could this be a possible cause?
Sorry for all the questions but I wanted to sort the limp mode before problems before ordering the other parts for its MOT.

Regards 4door

When the Cam sensors go on the 2.2's they are well known for flagging up other codes (which arent issues in this case) So, fix the cam sensor and you will likely find there is nothing else to fix :y

Make sure you buy the sensor from Vaux, pattern ones are crap. Likelihood is the gearbox codes are due to the sensor as said

Change the **CAM** sensor. I half believe the crank sensor was changed in error.

Use a GM part

Hi just a quick update on my Omega, the good news is the fault codes are now clear.  :)
My mate at the garage discovered that the timing belt had been replaced fairly recently and was 2 degrees out of alignment. They have adjusted it now and the EML has gone off and the codes cleared. They belt was at the correct tension so they didn't think it had slipped just been incorrectly fitted by the previous owner so very happy that it will get through its MOT tommorow and I can pick it up on Saturday all being well can't wait . Has anyone else had this issue like this with the timing belt?

On a seperate note they are saying the battery is no longer its holding charge any ideas what price is should I be expecting to pay for a replacement?
