I've just done the fan test, the 2 front fans are working, the main fan behind the rad is not. Is there a way to check if the fan is seized with it in situ, or will I need to remove it? Or is it more likely to be a switch?

I don't know which relay is what, but if the fan test fails to spin the fan, I'd suspect a relay to be at fault. :-\

Is there a way to test the fan by powering it directly?

What wiring is going to the fan? Generally GM uses Brown for ground/earth/negative & red or black fro 12V depending on whether it's permanent live or ignition live.
