				Engine swap

 Looking for some advice please....

 I have a very clean and tidy 2002 ‘ish’ 2.2i petrol manual Omega Tourer CDX but I am thinking of doing a V6 engine and running gear transplant as I can not find a V6 Tourer that is a clean as mine at a price I can afford!

 I have found a 2000 facelift 2.5 manual saloon for a good price with lots of history ( due for cambelt change ) just had recent plugs, leads, oil & air service plus it’s T & tested! and it would make an ideal donor car.

 So my question is....... What kind of a job would I be taking on and is it possible without to much hassle? I’m pretty good with spanners so I’m not too worried about doing the work just more worried if I can make it work.

 Feedback, opinions, suggestions ( polite ones  ;) ) most welcome.

 Too much like hard work for me. You'd end up with a modified car, & insurers don't like modified cars

 How clean do you want your V6? Not many as clean as this  :y http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=117083.0

				As said, if you want a V6, buy one ;)  Not worth mucking about trying to fit a V6, and all the associated gear, to a 2002 4 pot

				Thanks for the replies so far...

 Andy B,

 I viewed and test drove the 3.2 Elite Tuesday! nice car but I really want a manual.
-
				There was a nice plod 3.2 special on the bay not long ago that was a manual.  :y

 because you 'want to be in control ....... '  ::) ::) ::)

 Have you ever driven an auto for more than a run around the block? Two pedals are the way forward ...... that's why the vast majority of prestige cars come with a proper 2 pedal gearbox .  :y :y :y

				Yep,

 I've had 2 manual 2.5 Tourers, 3 Auto 2.5 Tourers & a manual 3.0 Elite saloon. Prefer the manual + a tad better on fuel.

 I bet they all had the real clutch though unlike the 2.6 and the 3.2 not sure if the last of the 2.5 and 3.0 litre had DMF as well

 and you're looking at V6 Omegas for fuel economy?  ::) ::) ::)

				Getting back to thread as others will tell you it is a whole lot of agro but it can be done with a lot of patience and time, the only main problem would be the insurance, as it will be a modified car and cost more to insure than a true V6 engined car from factory.
 And remember you need all the ancilleries and components also electrical problems.

				Thanks KevinP58...

 Gonna knock that idea on the head I think and just be happy with the 2.2i for the moment. I'll just sit tight and wait and see if a nice V6 comes up for sale that I trade mine in against.

 Which is exactly what I said in reply #1  ::) ::) ::)

 be aware though that a lot civvy V6s come with just 2 pedals ...... unless you fore go the toys & buy an abused ex-Plod car  ::)
-
				The beauty of going down the ex plod route, is that you can build the car to your own precise spec :y

 well when i put v8 in rover-used v8 parts had to get inspected--insurance fine?-dont know if Adrian flux could help
 they custom specialist-but reckon shouldn't be much more-- money wise anyway as all said and done it would be a v6 miggy-however tune it and that could be awkward-If doing all that work-v8 the thing-and economy-ha ha-unless lpg-easier to get v6 and do that up-or get a miggy thats been done already :y :y
