Bald yet? ??? ;) ;)

And nobody has asked how EMD has been posting this with no Internet lol
-
Phone? ;)

One of my phone lines hasn't been working since at least Monday. Can't be arsed to ring up BT. Broadband is still working over it, so I think the problem is probably close to me.
-
My Internet has been a little scetchy recently although that could purely be down to the BT Home Hub 4.

Not tried a HH4 yet. One was left on my desk, but I've put it somewhere, and my memory has failed me again ;D

One things for sure it doesn't get on with my iPhone 5 like the HH3 did. Other devices seem the same most of the time. Could be my area, I rarely get above 3.0mbps.

Jeez, if the wifi is worse than the HH3, it must be really poor, as that had pretty crap Wifi.
Though, I'm not too fussed about wifi on a phone in the house - I have far better devices to use the internet on than a poxy gay phone.

There seems to be many threads on google with unhappy HH4 owners. Going to give it another week before switching back to the HH3.

My sky router is fast enough but the range is crap. Just about manages to reach upstairs.
-
I never had a problem with my sky router for range, could use it while in the garage and my flat is on the 2nd floor

A lot depends on selected channel, and number of other wifi routers in the area. For example, I can see 34 Wifi Access Points from my front room, which is always going to severely reduce range.

Interesting, When searching for WiFi I only find one other on the list apart from mine. I live in the countryside with the odd scattered house here and there, So shouldn't my signal distance be better then ?
Let us know of your findings on the HH4 when you test it :)

It was the BT major line fault , we dont have BT as a provider but its their fault :P I presume someone with a mini digger dug up the fiber optic cables :D ;D We had a message saying BT take no responsibility and no claim can be made for any compensation against them ::) Well i missed a bloody 99p bargain on egay so i want my compensation :P

I would suspect not a "major line fault", rather your ISP trying to shift blame. Major line faults would likely have knocked out your immediate area (or at least half of it).
Your contract is with your phone provider, and Openreach/BT are just a wholesaler. You need to press your phone provider for compo. Your provider would have its own set of SLAs with Openreach/BT, which will likely have certain penalties if these are breached.

Swap it out for a router with external antennas that can take DD-WRT (http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index)
Install the aforementioned, swap the antenna out for a hi-gain one, and you won't have any signal problems again ;)

when I came home opened the modem no dsl light friday night ??? as I was tired and had to read some documents not bothered..
saturday I checked again not working still so I called operator and told the situation..
the girl asked me : is the modem on :o ;D
I replied I'm a programmer, please! :( after 3-4 minutes they corrected the problem ::)

Or plenty of off-the-shelf routers that do have decent wifi, even before changing antennas, for those that want something to just work from the box.
On the subject of wifi range, a few years ago, we linked by bro's 2 business premises by wifi. The gear we used was supposed to be good for 16km (dropping down to 1Mbps in the process). We thought that would be more than adequate to do the 300m between the premises ;D
-
The whole area was knocked out , phone and internet for 3 days . As far as i can make out the major line fault knocked out as far as Leicester :-\

A friend & I did the same a couple of years ago when he moved in to our local (sadly since shut down) that is approx 50 metres away, we used a couple of 24dB gain directional antennas in conjunction with a couple of cheap Chinese 1W RF amps which gave us an ERP of just over 150W each ;D ;D

Smells of a bit of bully you're being told by your ISP, unless it was specific to your provider, and they have no resilience on their network.

Low signal and range from that poxy router >:( Engineer coming out ::)
