Title: AirCon Cleaner.
Post by: Mr.OmegaMan on 17 August 2013, 21:44:10
Has anyone tried this stuff I'm considering getting 2 for both Omegas, Unless there's a better one someone could recommend  :)

Comma A/C "Bomb" type Cleaner... Fairly cheap here.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Comma-Air-Conditioning-Cleaner-150ml-Bomb-Style-AIRCC-AIR-CON-CLEANER-/171080242194?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item27d52d5412

Will also be changing the Active Pollen Filters at the same time..

They work well.

Seem to do the job, leave thew car smelling much fresher.  Good if the car has previously been smoked in too :y

Good stuff, Have ordered them  :y

How are they compared to the "Foam" type by the way...

Never tried a foam type.

No worries, They look too messy compared to the bomb type, But when looking around this came highly recommended for the foam type along with Wurth brand, The Comma highly recommended for the bomb type, Was just wondering how they performed with the Omegas  :)

Personally I'd be a bit wary of that foam.

I put the bombs through ours about twice a year...

You will likely need to clean the interior glass afterwards though :y

I can confirm Dr. Jimbobs diagnosis. An Aerosol Bomb twice a year keeps the smellies away! :y ;)

Good to know that they've been successful, Regarding the windows I've got some AG glass polish and screen cleaner ready   :y

How about the rest of the interior any residues left behind anywhere else apart from the windows ?

the comma one is the one to use :y
DO NOT >:( use the foam type that you spray down the vents, these cause no end of problems with the heater motors.
The comma one can be found at lokal factors for £7.99, and large tesco's have been known to sell them for £6.99.

before using the comma one place towels over the seats,as they will get damp, and fit a new pollen filter first :) :)

IME (thankfully not on my cars!), if you have that horrible A/C smell, these canisters only offer (very) temporary restbite from the stench...

I don't have any smells just want to use something like this before anything comes and to freshen the interior without using those daft air fresheners, I find once a smell comes its very hard to get rid.. Aye got a new pollen filter also  :y

Ive tried the Foam type, when the Pound Shop where doing them, bought a few, why not for a quid each, wasn't brave enough to try it in the Mig, so the Tigra Van got used as a Genuie Pig, worked quiet well comes with a extra long straw, warm the vents up first, switch off, then squirt some in ech vent, close vent switch back on again, nice clean smell.

By the way the Pound Shops Alloy wheel cleaner cans are great for cleaning Throttle bodies, Penlium, Muti Rams etc, a good squirt, paint brush it in, then rinse off with warm water and dry, brings the Alloy up looking like new. Haven't tried it on the wheels yet though.

Did you chance it on the Omega after the Tigra ?

I did on cheapo ex plod, and it was fine, cans didn't last long though, I would say one can per car, think if the Mig was worth a few grand and my only proud and joy, might think twice about though.

Have changed the pollen filter and used the AirCon Comma Bomb, Fairly strong smell but left doors and windows open and a nice breezy day soon cleared that up, Smells lovely and fresh now... We will see how long it lasts  :y

Just been cleaning all the windows, They didn't get too bad but it's an excuses to clean them all not a job i like doing especially the front and rear inside screens  :y

It's definitely worth changing the pollen filter every so often i had a load of pollen, grass, bugs, leaves and just general dust from a 9 month old filter  :o
