You might try a Bosch PMF 190E http://www.tooled-up.com/review/bosch-pmf-190e-set-all-rounder-3-in-1-multi-tool-cuts-saws-sands-190w-240v/198475/ (http://www.tooled-up.com/review/bosch-pmf-190e-set-all-rounder-3-in-1-multi-tool-cuts-saws-sands-190w-240v/198475/)

They don't rotate they vibrate :-*

yesterday , package arrived .. it has a big box..  and a bit heavier than I expect..

tested the sanding function with 1500 grid on scratch resistent laquer for some hours..

it erased all previous scratches that I caused by hand ??? :) :)

and later tested polishing function with farecla G3 ..

results are stunning to say the least.. never ever seen any laquer without  swirls ;D

although for the polishing I was not patient enough so after some polishing used my rotary polisher to speed up the job but
really I liked it..  so 230 £ didnt fly out the window ;D

and if you are going to sand and polish whole car with a scratch resistent laquer those machines are a must.. and whatever you do sanding by hand causes scratches and hard to remove with that kind of clearcoat

ps: dont believe in the ad its not quiet ;D

I dont think the car's owners patience will be enough to wait me for I complete the job.. ;D

a single hoods paint job took several steps and days (1 day primer (10-12 layer) ,next day sanding + base color coat (7-8 layer) , next day sanding + final color coat+ clear coat next day sanding and clear coat again, + 3-4 days for sanding & polishing nearly a week in total  ;D :-\   :(

ps: and thats done in 34-35 celcius avg temperature .. in a colder climate multiply the time by 2 :-\

Proper spray booth would have heaters wouldnt it  :-\ Im quite positive that if i had a spray booth i could get really good results . Doing a spray job without is hard with dust and insects sticking to it  >:( >:( >:(

If spraying without a booth, wet down the floor etc to keep dust at a minimum, insects etc can be "polished" out once paint set ;)

Yep..

after few trials you can .. I learned in the same way.. :) and I have seen many pros still making mistakes when they are not careful like runs, flows etc etc

Doing a spray job without is hard with dust and insects sticking to it  >:( >:( >:(

experiencing and sanding quite a lot of them as I also paint outside ;D

after some problems with my lungs (lesson learned) I started using this
(http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x80/mecdv6/omegapaint/3mmaske_zps784daf63.jpg)

its 3m paint mask which is widely used and very effective.. so I recommend it..  :y
