Just stating what was the point?  ???  :-\

He's always keen to post negative stuff, never positive. It's a growing trend on here  :(

 :y :y :y :y - Spot on.

Took my 2.2, with 160k on the clock at the time to Austria & back. Driving wise it was just under 2,000 miles in 4 days. (there one weekend back next)

In conditions of -18, again never missed a beat.

As you say, good regular servicing, with good parts  :y

Indeed, my 2.2 runs better now, than when I bought it at 80k.

Ok, maybe get a bad-un, but that's easily put right over time.

Did consider going long way around, when going to see MrsT's parents, it's border line in fuel vs troll.

But its much quicker across the Bridge & they know it, hence the tax.

Wish I had one of those wireless payment things, did a run back to Monmouth from Londinium, cruise set at 80mph for 99.999% of the way, only braked twice, once for troll, one for roundabout to leave M4  ;D

Indeedy :y

If you've had a neglected one, it takes a fair amount of time and effort to get it good. Look at TBE, complete with its full Vauxhall history (thus, it was shagged).

The Bullet, 208k, is rock solid for reliability, though it does suffer an incontinence problem.

Nothing wrong with your stem seals?

Small, regular, cheap maintenance can keep an old car going forever, only rust can kill it.

Sad day today, have just received the destruction certificate back for my N reg 2.0l.
Had served me very well for over six years but too many emission issues recently to
make it viable for me to spend even more dosh this year.  :'('(Never mind my new Desmond
is going great- so far. :y

Because straight after you did the cam cover, the issues started.  ::)

2.2's weakness is head gasket and wear on pot1, if you had taken help offered, instead of ignoring it you may still have it  :)
