Me!
-
Potentially me...
-
Yup. Doing mine with the NOOF lads on 31st :y
Will be interested to see if they got it right 4 years ago when it was done by Vx.
incidentally even if it was set up perfectly could it fall out of alignment over time with the stretching of the belt? :-\

A timing belt will stretch very little over its life ...... so the timing will stay put :y
-
Me but I'm not going to change it I'll wait til it snaps then convince swmbo we need a new car :y

-
Elite Estate due now, my 2.2 in about 7k

Elite Estate due now, my 2.2 in about 7k
I still have the cam lock from SWMBO's 16valve Astra G. Do I take it to Newent & hand it to Jamie for you? It's of no use to me now. ;)
(assuming it fits your car ;))
-
Not me, mind's good for another 18months or 20k miles. Although it has started to leak oil, so I suspect the cam-cover gaskets are due.
I think I'd rather do the belt.
-
My daily drive is good for atleast another 30k :y but the black 3.2 Elite on my driveway,if the history is anything to go by is weeeeeeeeeeell past its sell by date :o :o :o so its not moving off the driveway until its done.
All parts are here now ;) so just finding the time to start pulling it to bits then I will be intouch NickW :y

But it might be of use for my 2.2 if it comes back down this end ;)

Mine's due in about 8k I think... Not been in the car since somewhere around the 10th and not sure when I'll next be in it ::)
That said, I'm hoping to be able to start driving very short distances in the next week-10 days ::)
-
i dont. mine was done last year thanks :y
-
Mine just been done , another 40k and ten years to go ;D
-
Mines a couple of thousand over mileage wise and a year over timewise, but as she's been mostly parked up this year that's OK by me! It'll get done when I start using her regularly again, which hopefully will be within the next couple of months! :)
-
You're not getting your hands dirty then ....... ::) ::) ::)
I shouldn't as it is the week before Wales, a race I have spent a year preparing for. But I just know I will no doubt succumb and twirl spanners at some point :-[

Yup, not there on mileage but am there on years at the turn of the year I think..
-
Done yesterday ::)

Thanks for offer Andy :y
Think they are all the same 1.6/1.8/2.0/2.2 locks, fairly sure I still have mine in the garage.
Although I have a feeling i lent it to little fatty who took it to a meet of some kind, can't remember if i got it back.
Hope it was not in his garage! ;D

If it was you may need Google Earth to find it ::)

Given the heat of the fire, more like a microscope ;D
-
Well I've changed a fair few cambelts for members, but in terms of my own workhorse...I needed a cambelt about 6 years or 40,000 miles ago ::)
Then again, it is a TDdI Fiesta... if I blow it up, that's an excuse to get an Omega... ;D
-
Time wise, mine is due in about a week and a half, done 4 years ago. That was at around 15x,000 miles. Now 208k.
-
4 years is up next March for my MV6 . . but only 12k on miles . . . still gotta do it though I suppose ::)

Choice is yours, but I reckon I'd be wanting it done, despite the lack of use :'(

Oh, yes. The record for short cam belt life was Jimbob, IIRC. Couple of hundred yards, I believe. ;D
-
Oooooo yes epic fail!! :o

IIRC, one of the pulleys fell apart. Manufacturing defect. >:(
-
Yes, Mark (and I) changed the Heads on my old 3.0 MV6, did the cambelt while we were at it.
Ran beautifully for a mile or 2 test drive, then it cut out, clatter clatter clatter.
Coasted back to Mark's and investigation revealed a pully had detached from the backplate.
A weekend hard work wasted, and a family stranded 100 miles from home.
FIL came and picked us up, and Mark refurbed the knackered heads and did it all again!
