reHow do you measure the ride height and if necessary adjust the self levelling jobbie. My mate. Has a 3.2 which rides lower and also seems less choppy. Thanks

Measure it by gap between wheel and wheel arch, however you cannot adjust self leveling.
It's all automatic, are you sure your self leveling is working? Is the compressor firing? (should hear small buzzing sound on start up occasionally)
Worth putting a lot of weight in boot, start it, see if it rises and keeps it all level.
Also worth looking underneath to make sure you have self leveling shocks fitted. Also do you know if its got the correct leveling springs?

'His' 3.2 might very well have been played with ie standard self levelling shockers & springs replaced with something else. ;)

I believe the ride height can be "adjusted" by bending the bracket of the sensor. Not done it to mine but was told by a 19 year old expert - who refused my offer to join the forum... apparently we are a bunch of old farts who know nothing .... - who insisted that a lowered car will always handle better and that a lowered elite - by the bending method - was the best handling omega possible .....
Interestingly he wrote the car off 3 months later ...... :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but was gonna ask this myself as I think mine is riding high. I replaced the sensor with a letter model one and rewired the loom (thanks to Kevin wood for the wiring diagrams). It was a while ago and after I had fixed the sensor I found out the shocks were also leaking. Now I have new shock on I think it rides high. Was wondering if the bracket etc is different for the later sensor causing mine to sit high.
Does any one knows the dimension with no weight in the boot? Was thinking the same about bending the bracket or shortening the arm to get the right height.

There is nominal adjustment pop one end off and turn it one way or tother depending on whether you want the car adjusted up or down :y

Is your mates car an elite as well ? if not & it's an MV6 . . they ride 15mm lower than an elite & have a firmer taughter ride & handling characteristics. ;) ;)
Try the " search" facility on here , I remember we oofers were discussing ride heights at depth about a year ago .
From memory , Elites, CD's CDX's & GLS all ride at 675mm from the ground through the centre of the wheel to the lip of the wheelarch .
MV6 's & 2.2 sport models ride 15mm lower at 660mm . . . I think .

unladen the front & rear readings should be the same give or a take 5mm or so

Mates is also an Elite . I think I'll leave looking under the car until it stops raining, the rate the water has been running down my road I'll be washed away.I see in the handbook it says that in the estate the automatic level control operates only with 5 adults on board (3 in the saloon) so I guess until that load is acheived the ride is dependent on the spring strength.

some times pumps up and dont go down again-check multi plugs under rear seat+multi plug on pump under drivers side front wheel arch :y :y

Are you in a position to identify the springs? Any markings printed on them? Is his sl working?
Its possible the sl has been disconnected if other springs have been fitted.
...its also possible yours is too high, true enough.

I have measured the rear ride height it's 710mm. Heard the compressor run the other day . Tomorrow I stick on some ramps and see what's what. If say the self -levelling shocks are done are they dear. I fitted MAD springs to my old diesel Elite, when the self-levelling failed. They wound inside the original springs. I didn't think to check when I bought this one (Elite) oh dear.

IIRC they're around £150 for the pair on Trade Club ............. providing you can find a TC dealership
