Title: Standard fitted alarm/immobilizer
Post by: Lakes on 23 August 2013, 16:19:50
Hi everyone, new member & to Omegas, ( Senator owner 20+ yrs ). Having a little problem with the standard alarm fitted to my 2000 'W' reg MV6, it keeps going off when at home.
I live on a main road and the vibration from passing trucks sets it off. Can I adjust the sensitivity ? and where the hell is the alarm. I cant find it , all new to me and things seem well hidden !

Cheers Lakes

Try bending the bonnet plunger bracket upwards slightly and see if that helps.

If the alarm horn is going off, then its a good chance its the bonnet switch, so as said, bend it up or unplug it from underneath the switch. If the alarm siren is sounding, again as said power sounder, remove it and bin it. :y

Diagnostic equipment can give the exact reason for going off, but if you dont have that facility, start by unplugging the bonnet switch (this makes it look like its closed, as far as the alarm is concerned).

If that cures it, you can spend a bit of time bending the bracket, as you know it is that.

Wow that's a pretty decisive conclusion across the board. Ok I'm going to try all of the above, easiest first to doing the drastic to sort this little hiccup in my first steps of owning this car. Always seem to have this when owning a new car. Cheers Lakes
