Seen as Euro Car Parts seems to be in discount mode thought i'd buy a fuel filter for the 3.2..

Is it a straight forward job, What if there's a fair amount of pertol in the car etc.. Is there a guide.. Thanks :)
-
all do the same job. as long as you change them at the service interval they should be fine :y
sure theres a guide, check ze maint section. you should depressurise the system first. although I didn't bother. some petrol came out. no biggy. just be aware of it
-
Thanks Webby :y
Just trying to get these odd little jobs out the way before winter :)

you'll need a special tool to undo the ''not-so-quick release clips''. machine mart sell it. comes in a pack of 3 iirc
just be gentle with them. I ended up breaking the line when I did it.... if you do (and I hope you don't) make a repair using 10mm (iirc) fuel hose over the break in the line and use small jubilee clips to hold :)
-
Thanks ;)
Something like this ???
Laser 5163 - Fuel Line Disconnect Pliers

or there's these
Clarke CHT441 - 3pce Fuel Line Disconnect Set

or there's these
Clarke CHT441 - 3pce Fuel Line Disconnect Set
(http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/library/product/medium/04/040211441.jpg?)
these are the ones :y I think its the red ones required to pinch the connector together on either side :y

Ordered :y
Could someone put up the link to the "HowTo" for a FL Saloon, Its a faff looking on the iPhone tbh :-X

there only appears to be a guide for the estate :-\
but anyway, support rear of vehicle, drivers rear wheel off, look up and you'll see it staring straight at you ;)
the filter is clipped in both sides. use the tool to press the clips in and at the same time gently pull the filter away (I found twisting it helps but again be gentle). do that both sides. undo the jubilee clip holding the thing in place. remove and discard. refit is reverse of removal but just make sure you get it in the correct direction i.e. fuel flow arrow pointing towards the engine.
couple of things to note..... cover your drive with rags or card board as fuel will piss out. wear your safety glasses. and its the done thing to relieve fuel pressure...... as said I didn't bother but just know that fuel will shoot out hence the rags and the glasses
hth
:y :y :y

quick edit....
its not a jubilee clip holding the FF in place... its actually just a plastic strap. easy to undo :y

Thanks Webby :y :y

Almost received all the bits required to do this :y
Just one question is removing fuse 18 (20amps yellow) a good idea while the engine is running to help depressurise the fuel pressure as suggested below ?

Why not just quote the query, rather than a frakkin screendump. Some of us are on a piece of wet string, and paying per Mb ???
-
Personally I've never bothered to depressurise fuel lines. Either way, you'll get a face full of petrol.

Probably best to change when the tank is fairly empty then :-\

Yep.
....and buy your fuel filters from GM as your highly likely to receive a headlight for a Sherpa Van instead of the item you wanted from ECP.

Makes no difference. Its the contents of the fuel line you'll get, not the contents of the tank.

Aye got loads of wasps around here recently specially around the bins.
I don't smoke myself never liked it only tried one many many moons ago never tried one since.
Hopefully the tools will be here tomorrow :y
Don't know why I'm changing it to be honest I normally go with the "don't fix something that ain't broken" approach :-\

Heat and bend a cheap pair of long nose pliers so that the tips meet in a claw. Takes five minutes and works a treat :y

Thanks, Should have something in the garage :y
