Looks like Crutchlow needs the old tank for practice, and the new one for the race perhaps?

The master, the man who was once almost unbeatable, is now just another rider in the pack.
His glory days are now behind him now as the younger fitter bucks battle for supremacy. :'( :'(

I agree Opti, but I'd love to see him sort it out and get back to the top.
Thing is, amongst other things, I still think Simonchelis Death has affected him. And who can blame him.... if it has.
-
That may be the case, but I wouldn't completely rule him out just yet.Its known he is having problems getting the bike how he needs it to be.Since he had two years away from Yamaha, the team and the bike have(rightly) been moulded around Lorenzos requirements.
Historically,if you look back over his career, when he moves to a different class or team, the first year is to get everything setup to his liking and the second is for winning. The exception (apart from the Ducati debacle)to this was the first time he went to Yamaha. He won the championship it the first attempt.
Imo,Lorenzo is now the class of the field, and the Honda is a much better bike than the Yamaha (as it has been for the last couple of years). If Lorenzo was on a Honda at the moment, the rest of them (Marquez included) wouldnt see which way he went. Next year,Rossi needs to be at Lorenzos level again. If he cant hack it,it will imo be time for him to call it a day.I suspect he knows that too.
He has won a race and had some good races & results this year,so hes a long way from being past it. By his own standards though, hes quite a way below par.It still remains to be seen whether he can can get back to the level he was at three years ago.
Imo,the jury is still out,but the clock is ticking.

Slightly off thread.....but did anyone see John McGuinness and Ago riding around the TT circuit together?
Ago was on his lovely MV from 1967, and McGuinness was riding Mike Hailwood's Honda. I believe it was his 500/4 from the same year.
Great to see the old bikes still sounding and looking great. :y :y
Thirty TT wins between the pair of them. :y
-
Missed it,hoping to catch a repeat. I saw Ago riding his old MV at Goodwood a few years back. A great sight to behold. :)
-
Well, I had the right 3 riders for the grid, just a completely arse backwards order. :)

& Crutchlow destroyed 2 bikes in the morning free practice. Top marks to his mechanics for cobbling together something good enough for third on the grid.
The first 5 riders all beat Stoners qualifying record (set on an 800). Rossi was 6th...
Scott Redding starts 2nd in Moto2. If I heard correctly he beat Marques into 2nd place in Moto2 last year......

Rossi speaking about Marquez last week. "I think he would be really good in F1. In fact,I think that is a really good idea, Im going to suggest it to him". ;D ;D

:o :o........didn't know that.Maybe not such a big shock I suppose,as hes on the absolute ragged edge all the time.Hope hes ok.
Moto2 race about to start on BBC red button, channel 301 on freeview. Come on :y :)
-
Eurosport :y Last time this year :'( It was the warm up laps they both binned it :(
-
Imo Crutchlow has a big problem that he needs to sort quickly if he is to have much more of a career.Doesnt seem sensitive to what the bike is doing under him possibly ? Hes got plenty of raw speed, but theres so much more than that to being a top drawer rider.
Hopefully though,he will come out fighting and win the race. My money is on Lorenzo though.
Im at work,so don't have Eurosport,but 301 will do the job. :y
-
My money was on Marc Marquez but i cant see him riding now , looked like marquez had injured wrist or collar bone :(

I'm going to wait for the motogp showing on Eurosport.
I can't bare the BBC commentary personally. :(

Getting back to boring the spats on the track. ::) ::) :o :o
Lorenzo spent the first season binning it at every race when he wasn't too injured to get on the bike. :o :o :o He also had a few crashes in the second year. If you are a fast rider exploring the ragged edge that is acceptable when you are still learning. My concern with Crutchlow is that he seems to be making too many stupid mistakes like pushing too hard on cold tyres and he needs to up his game if his is going to be a consistent top rider. The next two years are going to be pivotal for his career, on whether he is a potential world champion or a nearly man. At the moment it is looking more like the latter than the former, but who knows he may have another level to go to with a bit more experience. ::) ::) ::) ::)
Next year with Scott Redding joining a satellite Honda team I think a much more likely top class future British world champion will be in MotoGp. He has several youngest records and 3 GP wins to his name and he is only 20. To me I think the next generation that will dominate MotoGp are obviously Marco Marquez and if he keeps progressing then Scott Redding. If Redding has a good season next year then Pedrosa is going to need to start looking over his shoulder. :y :y :y :y

Cal binned it, during warm up, Marquez binned it in the same place in he same session not 20secs after.
In fact, the marshals attending to Cals bike had to leg it for fear of being hit by Marcs bike, the two incidents where that similar. As Marc's bike passed almost directly over Cals.
(The Honda travelled further though ;D )

Thread pruned.
Chrisgixxer and Albitz - please cease and desist getting on each others nerves and publicly slagging each other as a result.
If you cant get on and willingly play nicely together or keep out each others (online) way then you will be forced to keep out each others way by banning.
Here endeth todays lesson.
:)

OOF apologises for the temporary interruption in the GP thread. Hopefully normal service is resuming shortly.... :)

Fair comment B. Sorry for interfering with the tranquillity of your sunday afternoon. :-[
Back to the bikes.Apparently Marquez has been docked points for not slowing down for the yellow flags at the scene of Crutchlows crash, and then crashing and almost piling into the marshalls at the scene.
