Evening guys for those that are still awake :)
I won a car last night on ebay and paid the £300 deposit for it as described to hold the car, went to pick up the car , over 200 miles away and it was no where near as described, It was described as immaculate and not a single blemish, Turned up to find 5 dents on roof , few on the doors, front bumper not lined up , advertised with xenons and had normal bulb headlights, advertised with led door handle lights , none fitted , at this point we said it wasnt for us and at a cost of £70 fuel we headed back home, Now the big question i want to as you guys is that will i get my £300 deposit back, He said he would refund it no problem as soon as he got home and have now just text me saying he cant until monday , so alarm bells are already ringing with him being dishonest as not describing the car truthfully ..
What do i do next guys as im reading conflicting advice saying i will get it back and some saying i wont as paypal dont do refunds on motor vehicles

Immediate thing to do is log a paypal dispute (or "claim") as they call it (make sure you choose "escalate to full claim".
They nearly always find in buyer favour, regardless of anything.
Out of interest, what was the car?

It was a 530d m sport saloon
I dont want to open a dispute and have paypal say they dont support cliams for motors, car was a shambles and im already £70 down on fuel costs and a full day wasted

yeah i guess so but i dont want to open a dispute unless im gauranteed to get my deposit back , If he plays funny and paypal dont cover deposits for cars then i would rather cancel my card and get it back that way

Why is a newbie asking questions on an Omega forum about a BMW?
As advised, make a claim via paypal........ :y
Buying via a credit card rather than a debit card, I don't think the usual safeguards count, but happy to be proved wrong... ;)
On ebay, never make a purchase that you can not afford to lose money on, my personal advice....... :y

wow im newbie when i been on here since 2008 and was on the original forum from old days but thanks for the reply, I was just trying to get a concrete answer before proceeding

Not only would I have not left the vendors house until I had my £300, I would have also been requiring my fuel money back for the travelling as the vehicle is anthing other than "as described".
At that point if the vendor had said anything other than "here's your money mate", it would not have been a good day for those involved.
Seems to me all you can (legally) do now is log a dispute with Paypal, good luck with getting what's left of your money back.
