Title: codes
Post by: Bob G on 03 September 2013, 23:50:46
reading another post gave me a flash of "I wonder if" with my problems, got the codes of 351 and 335 which are easy but think I might have not understood this one, it came out as 10-3-4-10 which I now understand to read 340 which is cam sensor, if this is correct would it cause the other issues? and if so would it make sense to change it before doing anything else?

On the 2.0, "10" means "0" in code terms, if you have a cam sensor code, I bet that's your issue, cam sensor limited revs on my 2.0 :y

Certainly hope it is, hope to get one today so fingers crossed.  Anyone else agree/disagree? should I get the coil pack or put that on hold.

A 0340 does imply cam sensor issue. For some reason, some code readers really struggle to show this one on intermittent 2.2s, no idea why

Cam sensor fault will cause the engine to rev limit.

The reason is that the cam sensor is required to support sequential injection as it allows the ECU to identify which pot is next to fire on the four stroke cycle. When there is a fault with it, the injection system burst fires pairs of injectors which is a compromise, due to the compromise the rev limit is implemented.

Do check the wiring to the cam sensor to as this can cause issues (the Gm sensor used to be supplied with a short section of loom)
