Well i cant believe the insurance quotes im getting for a JAGUAR XJ6 3.2 straight 6 ::) Its cheaper than what ive got at the minute so its making me think bigger engine equals cheaper insurance on every car ??? How they come to that decision is beyond me :-\ So should i get an XJ6 ::)

Being elderly and infirm helps, Mr Emd. ::) ::) ::) :)
It would probably be expensive for a man in his twenties like myself. :)

Lancaster insurance quoted me £229 for a V12 XJS on a restricted 10k per year policy, with no no claims bonus. Was well impressed, it seems any Jag with them pre 1998 insurance is really cheap.
-
Mine worked out slightly cheaper than my old Elite - same company, same policy ;)
Add to that a lot better performance, much more comfortable and roomy, more "goodies", and better mpg - well chuffed.
Road tax the same.

Something ain't right there , they quoted me £1200 ;D Cheapest i got a quote for the 3.2 xj6 is £370 :-\
-
Did you look at all the quotes? There are some more usually appear at the bottom of the page after about a couple of minutes.
Got another one recently for a Discovery 300tdi I'm after - £290, just have to find one now & re-acquaint myself with my welder.
-
I will do the quote again tomorrow and see if its changed , ive just done it again and still £1200 :o Better still ill give them a ring :y
-
you should re-check - for a V12 XJ-S on limited mileage, I'd be amazed if you'd have to pay more than £100
Have just done Dad'd Silver Shadow for him - 10,000 miles cost us £78
-
I haven't rang Lancaster yet as been too busy :( But i did an online meerkat quote late last night for a 2.5 cdx omega and it came up £140 cheaper than my current car >:( Something got to give and maybe the ideal excuse to go back to Omega wheels :-\

My Daimler XJ6 was even cheaper than the Jag XJ6 presumably because the cheaper Jags were used as getaway cars!!
Go for a Daimler but in any case make sure the handbrake works effectively. :y

Lancaster ask for a club member account number so this would make a big difference , stil quotes over £1k for non club members is extortionate :(
On the plus side xj6 on meerkats was £360 fc :D
-
no mate am a club member---am not a member ;) ;) ;) know what i mean--round door handle ;) rhythm stick ;) thats why didn't use lancaster :y

Aye , classics are cheaper to insure plus free road tax but the car dearer to buy :( That P6 went for £120 by the way with all the spares :'(
-
mate p6 is common-as far a classics go--so don't worry about that one
-
For classic's still a Merc 560 SEC for me, suspect insurance would quite cheap.

Back in the 70s my boss had a Merc 450 SEL (7 lit), purchased new. Now that was some car to drive back in those days - had a tendency in the wet to swap ends ;)
-
XJ6 3.2 insurance is cheaper than omega and vectra , well so meerkats are saying :o
-
The XJR is cheaper to insure than any 2.5 I have had. Once we get the electric go-kart I will move the jag on to limited mileage and currently quotes for that are around £90-120.

-

High crime area. Nope :)
Drink Driving conviction Nope tea total :P
Speeding fines Nope never :P
Too ugly to insure. Nope :)
I think i would be best cutting out the middle man and going direct to an insurance company , these meerkat comparison sites are obviously bumping the quote up with fees for more meerkats >:(
-
to be honest Adrian Flux (are a bunch of robbing barstewards) BUT have always been cheaper than anyone else....
-
If i can get it below £300 ill be happy , not paying £3-400 to any of the robbing gits :(
Mr flux is going to ring me back tomorrow ...

The Lexus 400/430/460 is an accomplished motor car. One that should give it's owner years of reliable service.
Let's face it though, it's never going to give anyone a stiffy when they drive it.
Competent yes, but dull too. :y
