Title: first proper drive in the 2.2 dti

Hello everyone.

just taxed the omega today after fixing it back up from a friend and it flew through its m.o.t and I must say this is my very first diesel and wow was quit inpressed how the 2.2 dti manual omega performed I think I will keep it and sorn my 2.2 petrol off road for now untill taxed does any one know if theres any common faults with the 2.2 dti. Most common issues are around lack of servicing, and the inlets getting gummed up. Front crank pulley sometimes fails.

Otherwise, standard Omega faults.

They do go quite well when on the turbo. Coupled with the manual box it enables you to make the most of that rev range.

One thing that's worth doing is decating the exhaust as it makes them a bit more responsive when pulling away and improves the MPG very slightly.

Make sure the fuel filter is changed regularly and use a priming bulb to get the diesel pumped through before starting, it's a job best done while the engine is hot to aid starting.

The rubber vacuum couplings on the pipework under the bonnet perish and can cause all kinds of nasties...

Oh, and the glow plugs tend to sieze in the head. A reaction between alloy head and steel glow plug.otherwise an excellent car.
