Title: Code 0036 and 0141 on 2.2. Auto
Post by: Chalan on 20 September 2013, 10:12:47
Hi Guys

Over the last few months my emission light has been coming on once or twice a month - I have a code reader and have recorded 0036 and 0141 codes (mostly 0141) I reset them and wait for the next occurrence. As I guess I expected it now comes on each day with an 0141 code which of course identifies O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2). I have scoured the forum and have read a number of similar posts but none seems to identify which of the two sensors it refers to and it seems clear that sometimes the code may be misleading and I am obviously loathed to replace anything unless I am reasonably sure it is the problem.

I didn't mention it but the car runs fine with no obvious indication of any problems.

So my questions are:
1 - Which sensor is Bank 1 Sensor 2?
2 - Is it likely to be the problem?
3 - Any other suggestions?

B1S2 on a 2.2 is the sensor between the starting cat and the main cat

2 Cats - You learn something new every day.

Is that the one under the bonnet or under the car?

The starting cat (aka Pre Cat) is only a little toy one. Can't remember where it is on a 2.2, but on the downpipe would be logical. You'll have a lamda either side of this - B1S1 and B1S2.  The main (normal) cat is further back, beyond the flexi
