Am I correct in thinking the 2.2 petrol 2002 has solid lifters (not hydraulic) ? Does anyone supply new or remanufactured cams and followers for this engine (don't fancy fitting half worn 2nd hand stuff), also what are the tappet clearances please ?

Indeed. ::)
I don't recall ever seeing a cam with appreciable wear come out of an Omega, and I've seen some with some pretty serious miles and having suffered some serious abuse.
All petrol engines used in the Omega have hydraulic lifters. Whilst they can sometimes benefit from a clean if oil changes have been neglected they are otherwise rarely troublesome.

Don't see how those symptoms are related to the cams, TBH. :-\

Same parts or different ?

Have a look here for both inlet & Exhaust valves ( the ones pictured are for illustration only, the valves actually have three grooves). There is a pretty comprehensive list of cars using the same valves further down the listing. Hth :y

I'm not sure why well intentioned OOF members are facilitating what appears to be a futile replacement of cam followers when what the car probably needs is routine maintenance (2 or 3 oil changes and some lifter treatment) and calm analysis of the fault codes. After that it might need a new exhaust manifold gasket or attention to the EGR and the connections to it. :-\

Agreed mate - can't see why op feels the need to replace cams and lifters ::)

This is a separate issue to rough running when cold - I'm fully aware that cam wear is not the issue with that and agree that replacing cams / followers for that would indeed be totally futile. I was curious to see if the cams were available should I decide to fully rebuild the head at some point and to perhaps discover what other engines (if any) shared parts with the Z22XE - that is all. I greatly appreciate all those who offered constructive advice along the lines of the request.
