Title: Rains Sensitive Wipers
Post by: mark.adams on 02 October 2013, 11:01:00
Tested out the rain sensitive wipers on my new elite today, first time i have ever used/experienced them.
I have to say i was impressed, did it exactly what it says on the tin...

You may find though, as I have, that if the rain is too 'fine' on the windscreen you will manually operate them as you become impatient for them to start themselves!

Straight forward rain activates them fine :y :y

I'm completely the opposite, and find them way too keen. Bloody things ;D

I'm getting used to them slowly, but then I've had the car over 3yrs ;D

Are they Tech II-able? I believe the sensitivity of the Merc's wipers can be adjusted via Star (Merc's Tech II)  :-\

They do need waking up ime over two 3.2 elites I've owned, but they work way better than those I've encountered on newer cars. WAY better.

A vast improvement over that intermittent dial on the stalk rubbish IMO. ;)

Nope, its a simple system that lacks any degree of intelligence.

We'll agree to differ on that one, as now I often have to turn off the intermittent function, and wipe manually.

I much prefer the earlier option of setting the delay manually, not having to use a setting based on a GM tech who was clearly on speed

Stop fiddling with it and let them get on with it. They need no interference.

I guess thats the problem with it being non adjustable, you'll never be able to accomodate a large majority...

I think mine were set by a GM technician on mogadon.  :( They occasionally wake up and get a bit excitable but generally are way too slow to react. ::)

I think Chris got the pick of the bunch......

On two different cars? I'm a lucky guy.

I did say they need waking up.

They also need to see four strokes of an increase in rain before they match that speed. Afaict.

More than twice over ;)

Oh... And I think I've done 23k in the last 8 months... 33k since my conversion (hence the cam belt being due in 7k)

Its fairly low as neither of us use it by choice, we both grab the keys for the superior MFL model...  ...except at the moment, as its a bit broken ;D
