Has anybody on here used Jinyu tyres on there omega ?
Just been quoted 120 quid for a pair (235/45/zr17's)
Got the name from a customer who works for a tyre firm and is not known for talking shite :)
-
Oh dear this going to be 1 of them threads thats going to go around in circles lol....
-
Never heard of them before today - but yet another cheapo Chinese import. Personally I'd be wary.
You can get "known brand" tyres for around £120 a pair ;)
-
Yes. I had 4 of them on my Omega (235/45/17). They aren't bad imo until they get to around half worn, then they are awful, particularily in the wet. I still have them on the rear, with not much wear left in them and things can get a bit exciting at times when the going gets slippery.
Would I pay £120 a pair for them ? No chance. In fact the only reason I had them was that they were free. ;D
-
At that price range I'd be looking at Runway Enduro's... Possibly a smidgeon more than that and they aren't too bad ;)
-
If you can find them in that size ::)
If you can find them in that size, let me know where as I need a couple :y

Oh... OK :-X :-[ :'(

This might cause an argument, But it's an option :-X. I've been considering German part worn known brands tyres rather than buy new cheapo Chinese :-\
Was watching these but they've now sold.

I had Wanli Ditchfinders on my old Omega.......All 4 for £200 INCLUDING FITTING. :y
I found them fine, but they were finished on the back within 6,000 miles.
I paid less than £400 for a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy 2....... 235/45/17.I can't fault them. :y

Good job you weren't quick enough, price is well over the top for tyres that are effectively shagged, they have less than a quarter of their life left, and the horrible quarter at that, for effectively £45-£50 a corner (based on £10-£15 fitting). That makes it a very, very expensive tyre....

You pay people to fit your tyres ? ! How odd. ::) ;D

You really are an erudite charmer, TB. ;D ;) ;)
-
Have seen some with around 5-6mm of tread left for around £85 delivered, Premium brands as well from Germany :-\
-
For £85 you can buy a perfecrly acceptable BRAND NEW tyre ::)
For example... http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/runway/performance-926/235/45/R17/W/97/f?returnurl=%2forder%2ftyres%3f%26width%3d235%26profile%3d45%26rim%3d17%26speed%3dAny%26minpricerange%3d0%26maxpricerange%3d0%26displayall%3d999&tyre=32326297

£85 for x2 Al
-
Ah ok, so that's two thirds of the price for half the useful life of a totally unknown tyre...
Somebody is making £85 out of that deal ::)
-
£85 for unknown tyres with less around a third of life left, plus fitting.
Doesn't sound cheap to me.
-
Aren't the German tyres supposed to be the safer way to go if going down the part worn tyre road, Sure i read something somewhere.
-
Why on earth would part worn tyres from Germany be any better than part worn tyres from here :o
I worry about you sometimes :-\

your mot requires 1.6 mm where germany asks for 3mm.. this may be the reason..
-
A part worn tyre is still a part worn tyre regardless of the langauge ::)

Part of the listing on that link i put up.
"German Tyre Warehouse has been established for over 10 years supplying quality part worn tyres at unbeatable prices.
All our tyres go through the following six stages before they are ready for shipping.
1. Visually inspect each tyre at source in Germany by ourselves.
2. Visually inspect on arrival at our warehouse in the UK.
3. Thoroughly clean tyres before testing commences.
4. Inspect using our state of the art testing equipment.
5. Spray coat with a special rubber sealer which helps prevent premature ageing of the tyre.
6. The tyres are then banded together ready to be collected by our courier.
By buying part worn tyres not only will you be saving money but you will also be doing your bit to protect the environment.
WHY BUY FROM US?
~ All tyres carefully visually inspected
~ All tyres pressure tested on our custom built testing machines
~ All tyres come with a no quibble money back guarantee
~ All tyres in stock in our UK warehouse for immediate dispatch
~ Lowest prices in the UK
~ Largest stock of tyres on EBay and probably in the UK
~ Sizes to fit 99% of cars and commercial vehicles
~ Quality brands Michelin, Dunlop, Continental, Bridgestone and many more
~ Buy direct from us No middle man saving you ££££
OUR TESTING PROCEDURE
Designed and built in France to our own specification a state of the art tyre testing machine, which clamps the tyre at the touch of a button, inflates it to between 2 and 4 bar depending on the particular tyre being tested then the machine goes through a spin cycle to check for any irregularities as well as being visually inspected by our specially trained technicians meaning all our tyres are guaranteed tested before we offer them for sale.
Please note some tyres may have had puncture repairs carried out on the tread area of the tyre by our trained technicians."
Wouldn't risk buying from a private seller, But these company's have more to lose surely if selling duff/dangerous tyres.
-
A part worn tyre is still a part worn tyre regardless of the langauge ::)
a tyres condition depends on the climate and road its been used.. germany temp avgs are lower , roads may be better which means a worn tyre but may be still soft and in better condition.. but of course it may vary..
-
And you believe any of that bullshit?
-
And no mention of age...
-
Omega tyres are cheap compared with my Merc's ::) ::) ::)
-
And you believe any of that bullshit?
Either of you?
Wot he just said ::)
-
Iirc tyres must be changed in pairs in Germany ? If so,get a puncture on an almost new tyre and the other one is going to be sold as a part worn. :-\
-
And you believe any of that bullshit?
Not really, But It's there in black and white nevertheless even if it's BS or not. Plus this "All tyres come with a no quibble money back guarantee"
Would i buy part worn tyres, Yes and i have on small cars in the past, On the Omega well, Does this count ?, The Elite alloys i bought some time ago still have the same tyres on. No real issues with them. Would i prefer new tyres Yes of course, When funds allow. But that's not always possible. I was going to after the positive reviews on here get the Runway tyres but they where not in stock. They seem to be back in now thought so will most likely get these. I should have kept my mouth shut, Never mind :-X
-
I've now had 2 sets of Yokohama's in this size. :y
Rotated the tyres and managed 30k from a set. Ok, not on an Omega, but well impressed @ about £90 a tyre via tyre-shopper ..

And you believe that? Are they a UK company? If not, you may have trouble proving that, even though legally they are supposed to abide by UK laws. Added to that, its ebay FFS, so even less comeback there.
I've always maintained that part worns are false economy, but do accept there are circumstances where its a sensible option, if pricey.
-
Anyone who buys German part-worns clearly hasn't seen how they drive over there. :-X
-
;D
Quick, the Belgians are coming ;D
-
Don't mention the war. ::)
-
Too late ;D
Oh hang on a minute... which one?
-
Oh friggin hell, what have I started ::) ::) :)
-
Don't mention the tyres. ::)
Fixed. :)
-
I've just bought a pair of Sailun by Rod Stewart :D
£102 delivered, for the rear of the wheesel. The misses drives it so it doesn't go over 40mph :)
-
Oh well, couldn't wait until I could get some enduro's in the right size ( tyres down to the wire :-[) so popped into my mates garage and had a couple stuck on for a nice, once in a life time cash price of 5o quid each fitted c/w balancing and new valves.
Stuck them on the back and drove home with the traction control off to get rid of the shine :-X :-X
I'll see how they behave once they have a few miles on them :)
If anybody finds the enduro's in 235/45/17 size, stick it on here OR pm me please because the other 2 are very close to the limit and I don't fancy 6 points / stacking the car in a ditch :)

I wouldn't have thought you'd get much mileage out of Rods vinyls tbh, they must warp really badly when cornering :-\ ;D ;)

Okay a quick update on these tyres ...............
Off the line grip in the dry is ok.
Lateral grip in the dry is ok BUT they do let go with little no warning.
Wet grip off the line is reasonably.
Lateral grip in corners is pretty much non existent.
For what is worth, you are better off sticking a matching pair of part worns on then shelling out any sum of money for these things ;)
They really are THAT BAD !!
Imo ............. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Know what you mean :)
That was the first time I've been able to afford a pair of new tyres in the last 3 years or so :-[
As you, I've been putting up with part worns :(
Must win the lottery sometime and treat myself to some proper tyres ;)
Can anybody lend me a couple of quid ? ;D ;D
