Came across a garage yesterday which specialises in the sale of used Chrysler Voyagers. I just thought the concept totally bizarre based on what I would have expected on the demand side.
There were at least 30 maybe more in stock just in showroom and surrounding area.
Only reason I was there was with my son to look at and then buy a high spec Mercedes C280 Sport with AMG on a 2008 plate which they had on their list.
Turns out they sold 6 Voyagers that day and had started the concept because they noticed how quick they sold whenever they got them in stock. Apparently it is not just taxi business either. In the short time we were there they sold one and had 5 people looking and one lot trying to persuade him to stay open as we left after putting deposit on Merc.
I though Chrysler had a bad reliability reputation. Maybe it is just price. Very odd.

......and a piss poor NCAP rating. :-\
I believe that is why TB got shot of the one he owned. :(

NCAP means as much as cem's stupid bloody tyre tests. Who cares how safe a car is to a pedestrian, they shouldn't be walking in front of a car. Remember, guys, we need to up the quality of the gene pool, reversing the exponential decline.
Some people think that some of these yankee cars are the mutts, because they feature on some trashy american tv show, or believe the manufacturer blub. I refer the honourable gent to Mr Vamps and his beloved Jeep :P ;D. Chrysler, for all its crap cars, do have a loyal following. And their UK small stuff is quite good, being a direct copy of the Opel equiv.

The safety problem is the result of compromise and packaging...
The details of which are explained far more eloquently than I ever could here...

:y
The ratings are nowhere near as clear cut as the headlines would have you believe ::)

My old boss had a Grand voyager. As a business owner needing to lug stuff about, and with a large family with grand children, he upgraded from his Toyota previa quit gladly.
I thought he was mad, as he was no plodder, but the car suited his needs and he was quite happy with it. Only problem he had was squirrels chewing the rubber pipes from underneath :-\
Grand voyager is quite big.
-
For clarification......TB means Tory Blair and not 'The Boy'. :y
-
Would make a good shed too ::)

The Grand Voyager 3.3 isn't half bad. Aside from the pushrod engine and the terrible gear changes ;D
The equipment level is good, ride quality reasonable and it is put together pretty well.
The 05+ plus model has electric sliding doors, sat nav and a host of other bits and pieces.

when i bought the Sintra, back in 99/00 we looked at the grand voyager, the servicing costs and intervals put me right off.
we liked the vehicle for the space, and comfort and equipment, but the running costs were unbelievable.. the sintra made far more sense, handled better, and was quicker and faster and more economical , despite it's already nose diving reputation,... i had mine for about 80'000 miles and to be fair it was pretty good, until the abs distribution pump failed at 99k , vx said the part had to come from the states and would take up to 12 weeks... that was when it got put aside and my first elite estate joined the family,
-
I seriously considered getting one fairly recently.
I mentioned this to my local garage and was told that if I did get one - NOT to take it to them for servicing and repairs.
Not easy to work on apparently, even worse than Omegas they joked ( well I think it was a joke ??? )

Let me think back to my last Mig, ah yes, 3 breakdowns in a little over a year, all costing time off work..... :P :P Mind current one swmbo has had for 18 months and no problems, just had the belts done otherwise little cost....... :y :y

That's what happens when you rush out to buy a car ::)
-
A friend has a 1999 Jeep Cherokee which he has had since 1999 and has done 145000 miles with no real issues.

I didn't rush to buy mine, did it all by the book, for about the first time ever..... ::) ::)
The Mig for swmbo was bought in a rush as I bought her a Megane Convertible which after a couple of days she told me she hated it.... ::) ::) Fell on a Mig that had just gone in px for an Insignia.............. :y :y

no what happens then is that you get ripped off by a lying scumbag in St Helens , and saddled with a very expensive , although granted rather pretty, garage filler...
thing is we're also having to move house, and the prospective new place has no garage..... (but off road private parking for 4 cars)
so project Jag is going to need some thought....

thing is we're also having to move house
Again :o
-
yeah again, and again not by choice.
i'll be having a rubbish decade at this rate
