Title: This forums great
Post by: johnny_boy on 07 October 2013, 19:15:29
I bought my omega in january and have fixed since then:

Aircon
Heater flap motors
Bonnet catch
Door motors
Radio
Front steering links and front lower arms
Autobox oil change

Pretty much everything that can go wrong with the car, had. and had never been fixed

Mostly down to the advice on this forum, it has a new lease of life
My car may be tatty, but everything in it now works.
And it drives great
I will be looking at the guides for tow bars next

I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who have written all the materials on this forum. Its saved me lots of time and money.

It is indeed. A great resource.

I always wonder though, why does the omega get such a helpful and useful forum...?

Because so much goes wrong with them and we have some very unusual characters and the topics they generate which makes you return as a form of masochism

Driving an Omega is embarrassing enough without having to go to a garage every time it breaks ;D

But at least it's not a Daewoo :P

It's a well.known fact that anything Korean is shite. Whereas, anything built in this wonderful country is fantastic.

If you want a serious answer to that, I think it stems from what we had pre-OOF, and due to changes there meant a new site dedicated to one model was created.

As the first members were already "known" (in an online sense) to each other, and a genuine desire to help everyone, it became the norm for OOF.

Same members there as on here though. So question still stands as only the name has changed, no?

Maybe forum was the wrong word? Community? My point being one model appears to have attracted the same "type" of owners. Or at least a higher average of practically minded real world people. (A type that is naturally helpful anyway ime)
