The only cam sensors that work properly are genuine ones from a Vauxhall dealer. Expensive, but they do work reliably. Is yours from a dealer?
Mine was failing when I got the car, changed it for one from a dealer, which required changing the loom connector.
 All was good.
The code has come up since, but on that occasion the sensor was doing a good job of telling me that my cambelt tensioner was getting loose, due to my own mistake of badly fitting a new kit  :-[.
So I would check the cambelt too for any issues, if you have not done so already.
