Post by: BazaJT on 16 October 2013, 19:34:57
Walking home from work today I passed a post woman doing her round. Now nothing unusual in that you may think to see someone going about their daily grind, but this was at 5.30 p.m. this evening!!That must be one heck of a round she's got!!

We had a letter from the regional manager explaining that they were reorganising our rounds ::)

Basically our postman now has to work past midday and when it's raining :o

No wonder the CWU is kicking off... they might actually have to work for their wages ;D

Ive no problem with it being privatised at all.Hopefully the management will knock the "weve got you all by the balls" attitude out of the unions, now the taxpayer isn't going to be paying the wages bill.
The problem I do have with it is the fact that the pension fund liabilities weren't included,so the taxpayer still has to foot the bill for that. Fackin outrageous imo.

If not-royal mail starts losing money, thus cutting services(or threatening to), who do you think will bail them out?

No reason the taxpayer should bail it out.It hasn't happened with any of the other privatised utilities. I could see this one losing money tbh. Letter post is disappearing and will be almost extinct in the not too distant future. They are very uncompetitive with parcels,so will need to change drastically or go tits up imo.

The government has promised that the letter delivery service wiil remain the same, from John'o'groats to Lands End. They wouldn't break a promise, would they?

We'll probably end up with 'Community Mail Collection Centres' where we all have a little box that our post gets left in.  ::)  It's quite common in other countries including some supposedly advanced places like Australia.....  :-\

Still it'll give old fellas like STEMO a reason to get out now and again!  :)
