Title: Elite seat change
Post by: Big_Al on 16 October 2013, 21:56:02
Any advice greatly appricated on this one please .

Changed over to leather Elite seats from original cloth MV6 ones .  (51 plate MV6)

Done the small wiring adaption as in maitenance guide & drivers seat all fitted no probs . But on passenger side there is an additional large yellow electrical connector in the main cluster of connectors on the seat  .

The wiring loom from the cill/floor area has the corresponding connector taped up & was not used on the MV6 seats as no large yellow connector on the MV6 seat .

Have been advised this may be a "child seat" connection or something & may cause the airbag light to come on .  Just trying to clear up what this does  & should I have connected it ?

Airbag light is NOT  on

TIA     Al :y :y

I have plugged it in & seat   is working fine .

Flat rectangular yellow plug is indeed for the front child seat sensor. If your Elite seat had the sensor fitted it would have illuminated the SRS dash light. Leaving it connected won`t cause any problems as it appears your seat is devoid of said sensor

Bugger !    Airbag light has now come on  :'( :'( :'(

Start engine & all lights go out  . . .  after a second or two the airbag light comes on  & stays on .

Presume it's a tech 2 to get it off again ? :-\ :-\

Also cannot find a comfotable position with these lether elite seats  . . . giving me severe backache. .

so gonna change back to MV6 cloth  ::)

Tried adjusting lumbar support Al ? Various settings on seats etc. ?  :-\

My airbag light has just come on. Must be in sympathy with yours Al. All I did was swap the interior light unit while the ignition was on.
Cant see how that would do it. :-\

Was it from an Elite with front CSS

It was from an elite yes. Don't know whether it had css.I can soon swap it back. I wonder if the light will go out when I do. :-\
Also wondering if BigAl would need one of those light units to make his light go off - if he kept the Elite seats ?
Wtf has the interior light got to do with the css though ?  :-\

Nope.. its logical ...  :)

The indicator for the CSS being disabled is a light in the interior light cluster, so if that light unit is missing then the system sees it as a fault. It sees a fault it puts the "Air Bag" (or restraint warning to be accurate) light on.. as without the right unit it cannot say if the system is disabled.

With the correct unit in it works as advertised .. :)

Logical Mr Spock, completely logical

Have changed my seats back to the originals Albs ,  Airbag light goes off on start up with all other warning lights & then comes back on after a second or two as it did with the Elite seats . BTW i was very very careful not to switch ignition on during these seat change overs  ;)

Probably clutching at straws here but  . .  now that original seats are back in  is there any chance that by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so that the SRS ecu would reset itself  ? :-\ :-\
