...is a new 'genuine' crank sensor (X25XE) going to set me back from the Stealers? ??? :'(
-
Think it was about £57 inc VAT on TC for the one I bought for my 3.2 recently.
Not sure what the 2.5 ones cost.
-
No TC card.... :( ::)

According to the trade club website:
Your search for Omega 94- 03 2.5i 24v V6 - X25XE , Crankshaft Sensors returned 2 results.

I had an early 2.5 which needed the most expensive one. Apparently one has a rectangular shaped plug and the other is more oval (but I'm not sure which is which :-\).
-
Thanks for that! :y It's bound to be the more expensive one.... :( I'll have a look tomorrow. ::)
It's got an intermittent non starting issue. Turns over fine, but dosn't fire at all..... Anything else it could be? :-\
-
Sure part no 90492061 is the later "oval" plug type. Certainly that was the part no for those ftted to our old mfl (1998) elites.
-
mine sometimes has an issue with the immobiliser but usually the little orange light on the dash comes on at the same time to say as such
-
Be aware that EPC is often wrong when using the VIN filters - it seems to pick the more expensive one whatever. So visually check both ends (plug and actual sensor) and post up a piccy, and we can advise :y
-
So I've had a look through my records and the one that's in at the moment is 90492061 which is the cheaper one! :y and it was changed in April 2012! :o Even more shocking is the fact that the car has hardly been used this last 12 months as The Merc has been my daily drive! :-\
I spoken to the dealer and he's said that it's 90492061 which is all good, but then having a look through the maintenance section it seems that there are 2 different crank sensors for the 2.5 both with the oval plug. One is made by Siemens and the other is a Bosch....

I'm wondering if I put the wrong one in last time which is why it's failed so quickly. :-\ How can I tell for sure which sensor I need? ::)
-
The one you have. The other doesn't fit.
-
Hmmm according to Deb's guide in the maintenance section there are two different crank sensors for the 2.5 and they both fit.... :-\

Debs
The crank sensor: 'Siemens' 90492061 is the one that a Vauxhall parts agent (using EPC*) will probably insist is applicable for ALL of the 2.5 V6`s.....this is NOT the case, as many later 2.5`s were fitted with the 'Bosch' 90540743, which is also applicable to the Y26SE, X30XE and Y32SE engine variants.
Debs originally confused me by ignoring the version with square cornered plug used in the early X25XEs. ::) (that makes 3 different sensors then......)
Fitting the Bosch sensor 90540743 seems to have worked for Debs. My concern would be that VX might have changed the engine block or reluctor ring for the 2.6/3.2 but Debs seems to have proved that not to be the case. :y
Perhaps the later sensor is an improved design that has slightly different electrical characteristics.
