Was just going to say.. My response to most of those questions would be "None of your F*****g business!".

I pay getting on for 200 quid a month council tax. They can empty my bin twice for 200 quid, surely?  :o

Oh I can't wait for my local council to do this. I will just refuse to fill out the form, or fill it out and refuse to sign it.
On a legal note people who are arrested, guilty or not are having their DNA taken, what right as human being do I have to refuse giving them a sample ?
And before anyone accuses me of anything, no I have not  been in trouble with the law, and don't in tend to get into trouble in the future.
Just believe we need to follow the French example of supporting fellow workers.
Whose for a day of civil disobedience ?

i will be leaving one out for the "refuse technicians"-

1) is there any medical reason why you cannot walk more than 20 yards to collect my bin?
2) do you have limited intelligence regarding taking my bin when the lid is open .00005mm?
3) do you have a superiority complex history -to justify blocking the road without a care?
4) are you allergic to items that you have scattered across my drive in a vain attempt to empty my bin.
5) do you have a hearing problem that makes you unaware of the horrific noise you make in the morning?
6) do you have hullucinations when you think you see MUG written on my forehead!!!

Yes I think I understand your position. I am not really calling for anything illegal. I just think the time has come to really show this government that we have had enough. nulabor has had 11 years in power and all it can do is raise taxes, they clearly have no idea how to run a country. I vote for the Monster Raving Loony party, at the end of the day the could not make a worse government than the one we have got now.

OK rant over, where's my medication, oh that tastes good, the largest southern comfort you have ever seen.

I heard about this from the council about 6 months ago.....there is asome upset about it from the locals and most of us have decided to either return the form spoilt or chuck it in the bin.

We pay enough for the bloody rubbish service and still they expect us to split the green stuff from the normal crap......

Before long they will probably do away with bin men altogether and just send the bin truck round and expect you to empty your bin into it when it sounds it's jingle like an ice cream van :o ;D ;D.

I have just sorted ours to go out, now I am all for recycling as much as possible but i have to but, 1 wheelie bin, 1 huge bag of plastic, a box with cardboard, a box with paper in, a box with tins in and a box with whisky bottles glass in at the bottom of the drive. I have put it out for one of the lads to take it down whey he take thed dog out.

Wheelie bin gets emptied every week, recycle stuff, fortnightly. Not much in the bine these days though, since they started collecting cardboard and plastic.

I am all for recycling and with just a little effort it is quite easy. Anything like this must work both ways of course. If the bin men drop some of the contents of your bin they should pick it up or be fined. If your bin is not emptied on the allotted day you should be able to dump it on the town hall steps. Most of all we should have an alternative to the local authority waste service, a private contractor who is a little more customer friendly. If your bin is still on your drive ( so the kids won't kick it over ) they will still walk a few paces and empty it. The cost of the local authority collection should of course be removed from your council tax demand, the service will improve as soon as enough people opt out and council departments start to close.

Here in Germany they have the right idea.  You have something called a yellow bin into which you put all your recyclable plastics, foil, tin, etc.  The bins are large and communial but they are never full to the brim.  (if they did there are so many it aint far to the next one)

There are glass bins everywhere and beer and soft drinks come in deposit paid bottles so that when you go back to the supermarket you put your bottles into a machine which scans it and gives you your money back in a voucher to be used at the till.  Paper has its own bin and there is one for textiles at most supermarkets too.  This is the same ALL over the country.

I know many of us knock the germans (my hand goes up as a cuprit too) but they truely have their heads screwed on!

Oh and they manage to recycle the most of any other European country  :y

Lets see what happens when it is all Durham County Council. Our bin men are fine, not of this lid must be closed business. :y :y

I'm looking forward to this, just to see how well it works and how easy the council find in terms of implementing it.  My council seem to have signed a new contract for refuse collection.

At the moment I just put my bin out weekly for rubbish, and recycling is collected fortnightly, although they don't do cardboard at the moment.

The new contract looks like I will get a wheelie bin for rubbish, collected fortnightly, and a wheelie bin for recycling, collected weekly.

Just means I have to find somewhere to store them...

I wish our bin men had the sense to not leave my glass recycling box at the end of my driveway in a howling gale. Several times I've had to retrieve it from 2 doors up the road.  >:(

The recycling business is a joke too. We have a black bin for recycling stuff and a green one for general rubbish. 20 miles up the road my parents have a green bin for recycling and a black one for other rubbish.  :-/

I can't wait until they start chipping them to track usage too. I'll have endless fun wandering up the road frying the chips with a cattle prod on dustbin day!  ;D

I assume they'll sort out some annual leave or a WFH arrangement with my Boss every Monday morning so I can be home?

Actually, this is sounding like the beginnings of a cushy arrangement. 8-)
