hi all driving today (2001 omega 2.6 elite manual estate) car was very jumpy then engine light came on and car limp home did the peddle check and got code 0300 and 0304 which is misfire cylinder 4 also to add not long had the car when got it had to do rocker covers and on bank 2,4,6 the coil pack rubbers had come of caped in oil pushed them pack on cleaned up and put back just wanted to make sure its the coil pack before i replace it being the one that fell apart im sure it is just wanted other opinions thanks Darren its a good car pretty immaculate only done 76.000 on 01 plate for £850

You imply these were coated in oil after you changed the cam cover gasket? So car ran lumpy, popped coil pack out and its covered in oil?
Is that correct?

no sorry when got the car it had that famous smell so as i was going to do the service i replaced the cam covers when i removed them the coils were covered in oil and the bungs were still on the plugs i pulled off and put back on coil got the oil out hole replaced covers and plugs and put coil pack back now it lumpy

Just a helpful hint here, please use some punctuation. It's very, very hard to read the above.
So assuming plugs are now dry, which is what it sounds like. The coil pack could have been operating in oil for a long time, so could well be cooked :y
Hope you used genuine gaskets or issue will be back, but it sounds like coil pack is nackered now. :)

That means money on new coil pack won't be wasted :y
It's worth inspecting the coil pack visually for any burn marks/cracks :y

it was a bit rusty around edges wanted to replace it when i did the job but what with other parts, ran out of cash thanks for your help greatly appreciated

are Bosch coil pack's ok there allot cheaper than gm found both banks for £165 including del

Rust is a sure sign they are at the end of their life.
I think I paid about £70 for one (Bosch) a couple of years back.

I had to read that about 4 times, needed a full stop or comma to make it readable ;D
