Title: Tyre pressure
Post by: MR MISTER on 25 October 2013, 15:12:45
What is the recommended tyre pressure for the heaviest omega. (3.2 with all the toys, I guess)?

And what would such an omega weigh?

I'm guessing the omega would weigh about the same as my bus, 2.2 tonne. The recommende tyre pressure on mine is 35 psi normal, 39 psi eco on 215/60/16's. 39 seems high  :-\

I run 16 and 17" tyres at that pressure, absolutely fine in the snow :y

18"s I run at 35/38 as they have a bit less give...

Trucks run at 110/100 or there aboots :y

I used to run my old cdx on 36psi front and 40psi rear, failure to keep those pressures caused excessive tyre wear and early changes, it was running as a hackney carriage at the time !

When we tow with the Estate we up the tyre pressures as per the manual, however the rear is very loose on sharp bends if you don't drop it back down again when solo.  :-X

I can understand max pressures when loaded obviously, or, not knowing what load you'll have at any given point if a taxi for instance.

But max pressures in an unloaded vehicle is just horrific. Harsh choppy ride with little grip.  ...as you'd expect.

Also explains why most taxis are so dog slow steady.  :-X

30 (F)......33 (R) seems to work well for me. :y

I suppose it all depends on how accurate your pressure gauge is.

Seriously (honest) I'm not impressed, or unimpressed. It's just like my zafira, in fact, it is my zafira, with a different badge and a few more toys.
If I'd have known beforehand what it was like, would I have bought it?  Ermmmmm.....probably not. It's just not different enough, depite looking very different.  But, in the end, a people carrier is what I need and it's what I've got.......

Pffff I don't know why I'm even talking to you, your clearly a wrong'un. ;D

Just a car...? :o

Its the second most important purchase anyone will ever make in their life after a house. A machine with years of development, design and experience behind it. Numerous parts all working as one to bring a machine to life. Parts that add up to something a lot more than the sum of those parts.

It's the second most expensive purchase most people will make. And most of them are as interested in their car as their foodmixer. They simply don't care about the development etc, etc as long as it starts every time and doesn't cost too much. Hell, most BMW owners are only interested in the badge on the front; they could probably have stuck them on Robins and sold more than Reliant ever did.

Unless you buy an omega. Then it's the third most expensive behind a night out/the weekly shop. ;D

Sounds pretty on the money for a petrol engine with such a large front/rear profile.

My omega was relatively expensive in comparison to the last car I bought - £170 with almost a full tank of fuel. ;D
The Omega may be just about to be replaced. If it happens the replacement is going to cost the grand sum of - £350. Im a big spender me. ;D
