Hi all,
Opel Omega, 2.2 DTI, 2001, Elegance, facelift....
I had been reading up on the self-leveling problem and eventually purchased 2 headlamp motors, 2 senors and the headlamp leveling ecu, all second hand. I installed them today and for about 5 minutes all seemed to have been fixed. then the 'low field vision' error returned. Is there anything else I can do myself. I fear the cost of taking it to a main dealer as I will probably have to get a mortgage to pay them for the diagnosis and repairs.

Are both little arms attached to the wishbones? For HID

Thanks for your reply. Yes they are attached. I spent quite a bit of time removing the old ones and putting the replacement bits on today. I did make sure all were attached properly. It did seem to work for about 5 mins after I changed all the parts (No error showed on dash) then problem returned.

Hi tunnie,
Yes replaced front and rear sensor. Also replaced both motors in the headlamps and the headlamp leveling ecu under the front offside wing. All parts were second hand but guaranteed to be working.

Dodgy plug or a chaffed wire :-\
Fld vision message is in relation to the suspension sensors, so that narrows you down to the sensor wiring :y.

is it? I thought it was a fault somewhere on the whole system including the level motors :-\

Had this on the old Elite Estate - it turned out to be a corroded wire from front wheel sensor to levelling motor ;)

Thanks for all the replies.
Does anyone know if the 3 wires from each sensor go directly to the motors or to the leveling ecu under the front wing?
Or does anyone have a wiring diagram of the headlamp leveling system? If I had that I could create some loops on the wire ends to check for continuity.. or something like that!!

That error on mine was fixed by replacing a faulty leveling motor so think that is correct.

Once again, thanks for all the replies. As I have changed all the parts, 2 sensors (front and back), 2 leveling motors, and leveling ecu, I will try to check the wiring.
As a matter of interest, is it possible to convert this auto lamp leveling system to a manual leveling system?

Try to get the fault codes read as this will significantly narrow down the search

You've tried the obvious, so time to get the headlight levelling ECU codes read, to see whats what :)

You may need to programme and calibrate the leveling ECUs after fitting. Had the same error message with my Vectra CDX. Couldn't calibrate it though as ECU gave up and as I couldn't source one second hand I changed code index on info display for no AFL lights. Lights work fine without self leveling & no message on display. Tech 2 is required though.
