According to the RAC Foundation after analysing data there are now 4,018,900 men and women aged over 70 who hold a valid full British driving licence, the scary part is that of those no less than 191 of them are aged 100 or over!!!

When you decide to stop driving, I guess you can hold on to your license. 'License holder' doesn't necessarily mean driver.
-
Agreed, still a scary thought though that 191 100 year olds can theoretically at least take to the roads.
-
Probably quite right . The population is aging as people manage to live longer and longer. In another ten years the figure will be even higher.
By then compulsary health tests every five years once you are above a certain age will be EU best practice and will be adopted by the UK.

Bet most of them are on here ::)

My Mum is 90+ only recently stopped driving, but still has a license. Actually, she only stopped because I nagged her and her rusty '94 Metro failed MOT.

You need to renew your driving licence when you reach 70 years of age and then every 3 years after, so all of the people in the statistics above must keep reapplying.
My dad stopped driving at 79 years of age. His licence was due for renewal so he sold his car and never bothered to renew his licence so he is now off their records.
The three yearly renewal involved 'Are you medically fit to carry on driving', to which you answer 'yes' to on the form. Send the form back and hey presto you have a licence for another 3 years. There was no medical involved at all. :o
