Title: DAB adaptor/add on
Post by: mark.adams on 28 October 2013, 11:54:32
Hi all,
I have the CCR2006 in a 2003 Omega Elite and would like to add DAB radio without losing the functions on the MID that the current radio supplies.
Any pointers/ideas??

Pure Highway   :y

Well proven unit as an add on for bog-basic stereos

Sorry to hijack, but something I've been considering too, though I need to check available channels.
Thanks Dave for the recommendation  :y

Have had a Pure Highway in my 1998 Elite for several years and after replacing the silly stick on screen aerial with a decent roof mounted Hirscham on the advise of DaveDND have been delighted with quality of reception.

Currently de-commissioning my old trusty Elite in favour of an 03 3.2 Elite and swapping bits required over..including my Highway and aerial.

Well worth buying if you like listing to the likes of Planet Rock :y

I like Absolute Classic Rock but doesn't broadcast here on DAB, only via internet  :'(
Must try Planet Rock though  :y

How's the new Elite coming on amba?

Planet Rock is certainly my favourite radio station ,although they have recently changed all the programme times and broadcasters around so Alice Cooper in the morning is somewhat strange but still worthy of listenening to. :y

Slowly, slowly with the Elite,Jon,but its nearly done..looking quite smart if I say so myself.Just a small trip to the body shop for front/back bumpers then think it would stand test with the best of them now. ;) as very little hasnt been renewed/repaired or just cleaned up

I used to be able to get Arrow Rock as well but I can't seem to find it now. :(

Planet Rock didn't have much advertising at the start (probably not enough to be viable). They seem to have a lot more now which I suppose means they will be around for a while.

Never heard of Arrow Rock or even found it on the listings.

Yes,Advertising is much more evident on Planet Rock over the last year or so so its just an inevitable fact of the stations popularity I expect..although where else on the radio could you listen to the entire Dark Side of the Moon without any breaks/adverts etc,so it gets my thumbs up :y

Dark Side of The Moon is in the boot CD changer so I can listen to that without breaks or adverts whenever I want :y

Was checking this out on Amazon and the unit itself looks quite large? And does it have to be mounted to the windscreen?

I have managed to get mine into the glove box and secured onto the deeper part at the front with velcro so no nasty holes.

Have then feed the aerial wire and power lead through a small hole with rubber grommit next to the unit and into the void for the glove box, then a further small hole at the base of the glove box so the wires can then be taped up under the back of the entire glove box unit.

As I only ever use it for Planet Rock the need to be able to change change is not required although it is quite accessable with the glove box open

Good thinking mate  :y
Just seemed like it may be a pita if it HAD to be screen mounted. At least I know there are other options. Still need to check availability of channels, but no rush on that.
And looking forward to seeing the finished Elite  :y

Hoping to be mobile fully in few week or so as never set a time scale on it as have trusty transport

Just winsing abit after getting all 4 alloy wheels fully refurbished, but on the car I quickly forgot about how much they cost me.Look like they have just come out the factory, immaculate so well pleased with them.

Bit of paintwork/tax /sort out this damn sat nav aerial so I acn put the inside back together as nearly every bit of internal trim is removed..hope I can remember where it all fits back ;D

I got this one, with a Blaupunkt SD MP3 BT head unit:

If I had decided to keep the 2005 original head unit I would have purchased this one because it does MP3 and DAB.

http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Alpine_EZi-DAB_universal_DAB_car_radio.html

The aerial cost more than the unit and I replaced the GSM on the roof with a DAB one. I put the controller unit in the pull down compartment under the head light switch. Great reception Planet Rock mainly and thats why I purchased it, through Radio 2 excellent.
