Took a few days off work as Miss2112 was off school for half term, and today headed down to Dublin and out to an 'Outlet Village' another hour beyond the city (more shopping :o). Had a great day of quality time though with Mrs & Miss, and did 327 miles into the bargain.
No issue to the Omega, which also turned 80k on the way home :y
Weather turned a bit sour at times, but it's nearly November and you can't have everything ;D

It wasn't just shopping obviously, but I see what you mean :o

There is nothing they like more than an 'Outlet' village/store/sale etc....... ::) ::) :'(

Nice trip :y
Been to Dublin before, MrsT has an uncle there who likes his fine food and wine. Some great restaurants in Dublin, also had best ever pint of Guinness there :D
-
If you want outlet shopping go to the Clarkes village in street near Glastonbury.
lots of shops that claim to be "cheaper" than the high street, was only one that was and that was the Clarkes factory shop, saved a good load on lickle griffin school shoes. :)

Just one? ::) ;D
When I went I was with 3 buddies. Went to the top of the Guinness factory and only then did they all admit they didn't like it. Homo's. However their homosexuality meant I had to drink 4 gorgeous pints of Guinness (inc. one poured by myself :)) in about half hour........ that was a good night..... I think
-
Well Guinness is a bit like the old Marmite thing , you either love or hate it . Cant stand the stuff ... looks a bit like diesel engine oil and tastes the same ;D
-
MrsT is Irish so I had to like it ::) ;D
That said before I met her, last time I had a pint of the black stuff was on top of 5 times of Stella. That did not sit well ::)
But my first 'proper' pint was at the top of the Guinness Factory :y
None of the ones since came close, definitely a lot creamier in Dublin I find :-\

Agreed, I think its different to the stuff we get over here. :(

It's an interesting thing. I've drank Guinness in England since I started going out drinking at
14 21, and I've heard loads of folk say its not like the stuff you get in Ireland and that of course the irish stuff is better.
So i then had my first in Ireland and was expecting total difference. there was ''something'' different but i felt that it was just as nice as the stuff we sell.
strange one :-\

To be fair, its over 20 years since I was drinking in Dublin, so the brew may well be different now. In those days, when the pubs opened there were often 10 or 15 pints already pulled settling on the bar. Do they still do that?
-
Can't say for sure, but it's possible - allowing it to 'settle'
On a different note, I saw that diesel was about 8 cents more expensive per litre than petrol down south. Here it's about 4p per litre cheaper.

Nobody likes Guinness. Nobody.
It's one of those 'traditional' things that the Irish despise yet the foreigners love.... "I went to Dublin and the Guinness was amazing"
Bollócks

It's not for me tbh.
In my youth I worked in an off licence at a time when Guiness bottles were returnable. I hated the smell and treacle type stains around the returned ones, and haven't touched it since :-X

tried it and didn't like it so never again :y

Not that keen on it myself tbh.Probably have a couple of pints per year, when I occasionally feel like it.

Quite partial to a nice porter (brewing one tomorrow with luck) but Guinness is far from that. It is better in Dublin. In fact, it's better everywhere abroad, purely because you're drinking it to escape the local brew, or the fact that it's that or lager, IMHO. ;)
-
Any beer/lager tastes better abroad, (home brew and some small batch obscure beers), simply because they're not made with water scraped straight out of the Thames ;D
Guinness is king foul though :-\

I didn't go much on the beer in The States to be honest. :-\ They're big into what they call 'craft beers' from micro breweries and it took much tasting and testing to find a decent one! ::) :)

Most U.S. beers taste like pish anyway,
