I'm in the middle of the course and i'm getting 32 questions a night.
The answers to the questions are in any of 7 publications I've been given but can I hell as find the answers to these :(
So, if you have done the course OR have the relevant books handy and have not gone word or white board blind like me, a little help would be appreciated :)
Here goes ..................
1/. Under floor heating requires supplementary protection against direct contact.
This is achieved by :
a/. Double insulation
b/. 30mA RCD
c/. 30mA heat sensitive RCD
d/. Earth free local equipotential bonding
2/. Heating elements used in under floor / ceilings systems have a maximum allowable temperature of :
a/. 85 degree's C
b/. 75 degree's C
c/. 80 degree's C
d/. Unlimited as long as the circuit is protected by a temperature sensitive 30mA RCD
3/. All LV or ELV down lighters should be installed such that they :
a/. Can be accessed without electrical disconnection
b/. Do not contravene COSSH regulations
c/. Are not a fire risk
d/. Are mounted in double insulated fittings
You get 2 chances and the pass rate is 100%, no exceptions :(
I managed 31/32 last night, 32/32 with a little modification when I got to class this morning :-X :-X ;D

By process of elimination, mainly (handy with multiple choice):
a/. Can be accessed without electrical disconnection
No. Nonsense answer. You can always do that, but it might not be wise!
b/. Do not contravene COSSH regulations
That relates to substances hazardous to health -no.
c/. Are not a fire risk
That's my bet. I believe they now need to have a box arrangement around them to stop insulation (for example) contacting the back of the bulb and becoming a fire hazard.
d/. Are mounted in double insulated fittings
Not really relevant for fittings supplied with ELV and not necessarily required otherwise.

a is nonsense - if it said "can NOT be accessed without electrical disconnection"
any other answer is insane:
They can be a fire risk, as long as they are mounted in a double insulated fitting, or don't contravene COSHH?

Just a quickie to say I well and truly passed with flying colours :y
Just want to say thanks to Nige for the heads up on those websites and the rest of you lads who helped with the nudge over the line :)
That's the first time I've had to sit down in a classroom in 30 years and I didn't do it very well then ::) :-[
Amazing just how hard it is to train the brain to take in things when you've been away from that environment so long but happy to say that I proved a few things to myself last week :)
Now I've got the thirst for knowledge, I've got to get the money rolling in then I think i'll get myself back in there for a few more courses :y

Just read those questions, the only one that requires any specific knowledge is the temp related one (I suspect also a good guess would get it right given the other possible answers), the rest are just common sense?

This forum is a pretty good place to be most of the time.
Anybody can ask pretty much anything and get some great help off members and long may it continue.
Its just a shame that sometimes you have to put up with sarcastic shite like that >:(
You know sweet F A about me Mark and certainly haven't got a clue about what's been going on in my life over the last 6 years or so or why I felt the need to ask those questions.
I certainly have never spoke to you like that so do me a favour .............. If you can't be friendly or helpful without looking down your nose, don't answer >:(

I was merely pointing out that when faced with a question you are struggling with, eliminate the bleeding obviously wrong (as per the above 50% of the options are) of the answers, then the answer is either one of two. On the above the only one that really needs any knowledge is the temperature one as once you have done this the answer stands out.
