Title: New headlights
Post by: Wil on 09 November 2013, 10:27:59
The headlights on my 98 20i  -as most do had faded, i went down the path of cleaning them up they are still not perfect but it made them- 50% better - high beam is fine :y- dip is were iam not happy..  i have even gone up to 80 watts on the dip bulbs.. they are fine if iam only one on road, but as soon as theres a car coming the other way on dip its like mine fad away and appear dull and is not good when raining as well.. so iam going to bite the bullet and buy some new after market front headlights - had a look on egay and there seems to be alot to choose from, ace parts etc seem to do some good deals with free postage.. can anyone recommend a good supply /dealer to purchase from?  :y  thanks Wil.

Will these improve the performance of the HID's fitted as standard to the MV6 and Elite, Rob?

Nope. If HID`s appear to be losing "Lumen" output, probably faded lenses or tired bulbs

Standard 80W bulbs emit app. 1600 Lumens, Nightbreaker Plus emit app. 1780, and yes, they are legal

80w bulbs also stand a good chance of cooking the wiring after a while ::)

Of course, if the lenses are too far gone to polish then you'll need to replace the units themselves :y

Driving with foglights on in visibility of greater than 100 metres is both illegal and stupid.

Fog light aim is not checked at any time and can easily dazzle oncoming traffic.
