Chronic kidney disease.

Cats can make a miraculous recovery from it. Fingers crossed.

Have you tried some natural honey on the back of a spoon they can lick?  Some types are naturally anti-biotic and could help give both energy and a little kick in the nuts to the disease.

If the meds are in tablet form, try crushing tablets up or opening capsules, and spread the powder in some sliced ham or turkey.

Or mix it in with some lick-e-lix, its like baby food for cats. 99p for 5 from Asda or similar. They just lick it up. No need to chew.

What food have you been trying to get him to eat?
Have you tried cat food with gravy....ie wet food.....first it will smell very tempting and second will provide the water content, so drinking water isnt so important.
If you can get him to eat this.....then you can start to substitute, what he is suppose to eat.

As for getting him to take the tablets......go buy some cheap pate.....and push the tablet inside a small piece of pate......i used to to use butter when HollyDog had to take tablets.....but got a bollixing from the vet for it.....its too rich apparently....pate is ok tho  :y

I'm really sorry to hear of your cats illness moggy, others have posted links but this one looks very comprehensive and appears to answer any questions you could possibly have. Best of Luck from another Poolie :(

Sounds to me, Moggy, as if the poor thing has had enough. I would just try and make it as comfortable as possible.

When its your pet and friend Steve....you've always got to try   :)

Try the pate Dean....and to be honest....if he will eat ham/chicken/whatever i would give it to him....you can always try the other food once he's eating again  :)

Is your cats stomach hot to the touch moggy ?

If so, keep your cat a cool as possible.
Even if it means letting it lay on the ice cold floor.
With cats and dogs, the blood vessels are closest to the surface under the stomach.
That's why they always lay flat in a cool place or with dogs, the first puddle they can find.
Our cat had something similar when I was a kid.
It wouldn't take water even though it was de hydrating because of its fever.
Iirc, my old man spent most of the night with it outside with the cat laid on the cold floor until its fever dropped.
Once it started to cool right down, she would take on water and within a day she was eating like her life depended on it  ;)

Good luck  :)

Our oxygen waster cat has recently had to start taking pills. We got some cat treats in the shape of long sticks of meaty stuff (think of a thin pepparoni) which are quite soft. Feed the cat a couple, which it laps up, then embed a pill in one, which it'll also lap up before it realises there's a pill inside. I'll find out where we got them later. :y

I do hope he makes a good recovery.

They sounds like Lidl Kevin, our cat also loves them - although sometime he works out what is going on!

Well we tryed evrything.Honey, pate, hand feeding food with water in a syring. He would not touch anything. Then this morning he calapsed while trying to get to his litter. We took him to the vets to see if there was anything they could do.But he was to weak so at 9.32,we took the disision. To let him go for a long sleep,i feel like shit. That i could not help him more,i just have to live with the fact i took his life.I hope it was the right choice, thanks for all your replys.Dean and tracy :( :'( :'( :'( :'(.

Sorry for you loss....... :( :(

Like others we are in a similar situation, Out old Lab 13 and the cat 12, recently had a scare with the dog...... :(

We knew when we got them that we would have to face this one day, sadly that day is looming - Miss Vamps in particular will be devastated.......
