Title: Why are some bolts not magnetic, like thermostat bolts

I have noticed before a few Vx bolts are not magnetic. I noticed today the thermostat bolts are not. I wonder why.

Because they are stainless steel?

other bolts are zinc coated-these are magnetic  :y :y

The only none magnetic bolts on my car are those I've replaced with stainless steel  :-\

Until I read the posts, I thought the title was asking about "magnetic bolts" and not bolts that that are attracted to magnets because they are steel!! ::)
