Please take a look at the link. I discovered im missing the brass pipe and this is where my boost leak is.  Whats the job of the brass pipe where does it go and what does it do?

Could I blank it or is the brass pipe necessary for the function of another thing?

Any and all info more than welcome.  Thanks

Would blanking it cause issues? Is there some kind of pressure valve in it or is it just a hole??

Without exception, on all the TDs that I've maintained, there's been a slight oil drain thro' this hole, and the (missing in your case) brass nipple has had a length of tubing connected to it, to allow any oil residue to drip to the floor, aft of, and clipped behind and down below the rad.

To answer your query, (as you state that you've a boost leak at that point), I'd say that you need to replace the EGR valve ... and not blank it off.

Many TDs seem to suffer from an oil weep from that hole, which results in the viscous fan blowing the residue around the front nearside of the engine, and a resultant mess. >:(

My experience anyway! ;)

Ive a guy making up a batch of egr replacements / blanking kits to replace the egr so will be putting it on. He was looking to know what this pipe was. Might get him to make mine with a pipe there that I can manually blank myself to see its effects
