It's a new Prison in UK !
I think I have it all wrong .... think on this .....
Prison vs Work
Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, keep scrolling down.
This should make things a little bit clearer.
@ PRISON
You spend the majority of your time in a 10X10 cell
@ WORK
You spend the majority of your time in an 6X6 cubicle /office
@ PRISON
You get three meals a day fully paid for
@ WORK
You get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it
@ PRISON
You get time off for good behavior
@ WORK
you get more work for good behavior
@ PRISON
The guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you
@ WORK
You must often carry a security card and open all the doors for yourself
@ PRISON
You can watch TV and play games
@ WORK
You could get fired for watching TV and playing games
@ PRISON
You get your own toilet
@ WORK
You have to share the toilet with some people who pee on the seat
@ PRISON
They allow your family and friends to visit
@ WORK
You aren't even supposed to speak to your family
@ PRISON
All expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required
@ WORK
You get to pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners
@ PRISON
You spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out
@ WORK
You spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars
@ PRISON
You must deal with sadistic wardens
@ WORK
They are called managers

Probably part of this private finance initiative --- you got to make your prison better than the others so the prisoners want to go to yours !!!!
-
That looks like a holiday camp. Is it any wonder re-offending is a problem?
Need to start building another trans-siberian railway. Actually, maybe they could be put to work on the west coast main line. Got to be better than the current bunch of muppets. ;D

why cant they have a 7x7 brick wall cell with a bed and a toilet in it, and work 10 hours a day in order to pay for their meals? thats what a bloody prison should be like!
the way i see it, i've paid for them to have a basketball court, pool tables, table football, and whatever else they have, yet i have to struggle to find a house i can afford, and spend the rest of my life working to keep it over my head
>:(

They should be "Breaking Rocks in the hot sun" Ala' the clash.
In Borstal we had to do "trenching", dig a foot deep, move back, fill it in & start again in between mile runs & circuit training. We only took a sit down once or twice week as we burnt everything off.
I was 18 then & i've behaved myself since. :o

Tell me about it. I spent 3 years there...
At the university, not the prison, but I can't imagine the accommodation being much different. Or the supply of dubious substances. :-X

I was just thinking that, Marie. Why should any convicted prisoner live in better conditions than service personel under normal arrangements? Submariners don't always get their own beds, let alone their own rooms!
The only prisoners in secure accomodations like that should be those awaiting trial - i.e. innocent until proven guilty.
This is what happens when we sit back and let the hand-wringing lefties run things. >:(

I remember (just) when at the nick we had our refs (of home made sarnies or whatever) in a bare, cold room --- didn't often finish them either. The prisoners had their meals sent round from the 5* hotel around the corner !!!!!!
