Title: Electric cars.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 21 November 2013, 15:34:25
I'm aware that Mr Guffer has invested in a Nissan Leaf, which is currently one of the best 'leccy' cars available.

Has anyone any experience of the BMW i3?........It looks promising but quite costly, I think. :y

Milkfloat dragging a petrol powered generator around with it, I believe?

All I know is that someone at work with more money than sense was looking at getting one.. ;D Sorry, that's no help at all is it..

I thought the i3 was electric only!
Has to be plugged it every 80 miles or so, unless you purchase the extra battery pack, then its 140 miles or summat!  :D

Hmmm....Same old problem since the dawn of time.

I've said this before....but in 2013 surely we have the technology to make a car run for 500 or even 1000 miles without a recharge.....or is the technology still stuck in the fifties? :-\

I was wiith someone today who is getting involved in the Formula E stuff. Great short term performance but at present battery technology limits races to 20 mins. Apparently on top gear recently.

The Insignia is actually a shrewd used buy. It is so hideous that they can be picked up for peanuts.

Getting back to the. BMWs...... In the advert, they seem to focus o the butt ugly one on the right, but I. Quite like the look of the sportier looking one. Not saying I'd buy it, just wonder why the advert goes wit the fugly car.

The i3 is electric but has a small petrol engine that 'maintains' the battery level so in theory you can drive it all day long with that engine running keeping the batteries for extending the range etc.

Seems like a step in the right direction - but seeing as it's made using some pretty expensive materials it wont be cheap!

Good exercise for the ladies too!!  :D  ;)

And while they're at it, they could fit a perpetual motion engine :y
I'm surprised Nissan didn't think of these energy saving measures. ;D

Yes, passenger side. Give them something to think about other than distracting me from driving with mundane crap like "I want to go shopping" ::)

If they want to go slower, they need to shut up. ;D the more they yack, the more I have to press the "shut up woman" pedal. ;D

Nissan are a bit too preoccupied with the prospect of Britain leaving the EU, to worry about mundane things like designing and building cars.  ::)  ;D

The solid gold, diamond encrusted, fittings really don't suit that kind of car, Mr Opti.  ::) :P ;D
