I towed a 24ft twin axle back from South Wales a couple of years ago with the Mig estate no problem, very stable. One tip though. Re-fuel before you hitch up as it can be a little tricky manouvering that lot in some forecourts as i found out  ::)

I'm sure you'll be OK. Although our outfit isn't quite as long as yours (oooer! ::)) it's not far off ...... 16' car & 23' caravan. Your Disco will be more than a match for the caravan to ensure it behaves itself  :y

I used to tow a triangular, top heavy, 3 ton tech trailer with a long wheel base landy in my army days. It used to get interesting when it wagged it's tail. ;D

I am sat in mine now, about 4ft longer than the previous one, and same as you, think 'it's bleddy huge'. I am glad I don't have to tow mine ;) It seems one hell of a long way to the back end. ;D

I tow a twin axle Elddis crusader storm with our Terracan, combined length around 42 feet, they tow easy more stable than a single axle, built in stabiliser on the tow hitch (winterhoff ) certainly does a good job.Had a motor mover fitted for ease ,too big to try & push !!

A twin axle job is far more stable than a single, I would have gone for a twin, but the Insignia wouldn't tow it.

Went and picked it up today, your right,it tows beautifully, journey back was only half hour longer than the solo outward journey,520 miles in total though with a V8 so my wallet is in bloody tatters :-X

I bloody wish :-[,used 70 quids worth going up and about a ton's worth coming back, although in fairness to the Disco it did get a kicking coming back,it was dark and I was getting tired, got to say the Discovery is an epic towing wagon,by far the best vehicle I've ever towed with :y,just wish the bugger didn't like a drink so much, mind you saying that my old omega couldn't do better than around 16mpg towing the old lighter van :-\

Twin axle tourers, the start of the slippery slope, we bought a 6 berth one in 2003, think it was a 580? but long, and our tow car was a 2.0l Omega select estate..... :D :D

One you get used to that sort of size, you find a decent site and buy a Static...... :y :y

Perhaps I was being a bit generous with low 20s per gallon  ::). My R Class (diseasal) averaged around 23mpg going to & from France last summer & about the same when we went to Woolacombe the year before. I saw 16.6 in the Omega going to Devon/Cornwall a few years back , but the weather was horrendous.  :-\

I checked it when we filled up around Kidderminster and it did 20.5 mpg, haven't had the heart to check the homeward leg yet though :-[ :-X

What specs is the Terracan then .... permanent 4x4? weight? bhp? My R320 does 30-ish on a run  ???

Though yours has less power & torque than mine, it's heavier but NOT permanent 4 wheel drive which I think is where mine looses much of it's fuel consumption (mine is around 2300kg 224bhp & 375lbft)

Yes permanent 4x4 does  make a difference, had a 2 litre Subaru forester before (petrol) only managed 32 mpg at best..
