Title: Tempting Phaeton
Post by: omegod on 23 November 2013, 23:51:51
Heard a few of you rave about these, if I had the cash I would be pursuing this LPG one

Be interesting to see what that goes for, even so at those prices it's very similar to Omega in terms of depreciation disaster

I would be scared of the running costs. :-\

Me too, but like the Omega, DIY saves costs. Problem is DIY with the Phaeton could be an issue  :(

Having said that, didn't pscocoa say the cut off point for the shocks issue was around 04?

We had our GTG yesterday near St Albans and even those with 03, 04 and 05 are not reporting any big issues. 2 of the guys  are weighing up an 04 W12 on Ebay at £8000 as it is rare - but I think they will conclude to leave it alone even at only 60,000 miles plus - it would be a toy you rarely use due to fuel costs.

12 Phaetons turned up which is a record - previous best 11 about 3 years ago.

Cars under 10 years old qualify for the dealer service plan $379 for 2 years. Corrosion warranty is 12 years - VW are fixing any bubbling even on these elderly cars.

Only 11 in picture and 1 pitched up later unexpectedly.

I would guess around £140k. 6 of those cars are 2005 or before and 3 with 100,000+ miles.

The newest one was a 2011 but was an oddball. It had no bluetooth or power boot lid or roof aerial and was missing other bits - apparently an attempt by VW to get price down for UK market. It had very small wheels as well (17") and looked to be riding very high but we did not say too much in front of bloke who owned it as he was quite happy having paid a cut price with 200 miles on clock.
