I think mine has a dodgy connection in the hinge somewhere as in certain positions the screen goes red, but when I adjust the angle it goes back to normal.
It's been like it for a while but it's slowly getting worse. I've tightened the screws at the base of the screen by the hinge which improves things for a while but they work loose and the 'red mist' returns!!! :(
It's a 5 year old HP G70, so I'm wondering if it's a common thing, can it be fixed or is it terminal? :-\
TIA :y

Sounds like the screen ribbon failing, not to hard to change on a laptop and new ones tend to be around twenty notes.

Quite common for the ribbon to become slightly detached with use over time, I'd start by taking it apart and physically checking the connectors at both ends.

The Samsung Netbooks are good for that, screen normally comes back at a different angle or by turning the brightness down a bit, probably down to a poor earth return.
As said easy enough to change, I normally find whip the back off pull the screen lead off turn it 180 degrees and then plug back together gets another 18 months use out of it. ;)

If you're really unlucky, it'll be the plug slightly dislodged. But in reality, more likely the ribbon itself. Cheap and easy to fix, though you have to upclip the screen, which can be fiddly.
