Have a look at this lifted from the Chevy forum:
"All changed for me now.
I'm on 1700 miles and used 1.6 Gallons since mid-May.
I had a Chargemaster fitted by British Gas under the Source London Scheme. It will work out £400 installed with 3 year warranty and 3 years of cover for all the electrics in the house.
Full charge in 4 hours at home now and use the standard charger at work occasionally if I need a top up to go somewhere on the way home.
Maximum 49 miles on full charge....minimum 32 miles (mainly motorway).
I have had a few error messages, but Phoenix have just sorted this out for me."
That mileage is terrible!

Sorry...Chevy volt.

Volt, which is the Ampera here? It's a big car, I'm not surprised by the low miles on leccy.
Only way I'd go leccy is if car was sub £5k, would easily last 10 years and I could charge it at work ;D

For that kind of range it must have less battery capacity than the leaf. On a bad day 70 miles range, I have done 95 on a full charge.
BG are booked in to install a home charger once I move in to the new place which will give me a full charge from empty in 8 hours. The install is free but any extra work needed to fit it is charged extra. £400 seems quite excessive given that it's a 16amp feed installed directly in to the fusebox on it's own dedicated ring.
