Title: Heater motor in footwell

Does anyone have pictures of how the arms on the back of these motors go please?

Stupid me didn't realise that there was one each side. The guide that you were good enough to point me too, talked about the passenger side, which was fine. Didn't realise the drivers side had one too  :-[ :-[

Just found it and the arm is not connected to the motor, hence my cold air......I hope!

I did unscrew the motor, but it only moved forward a fraction but not enough to pull it out to see behind it :-\

There's a screw up high on the left of the motor that's difficult to see without a torch, did you undo that one?

Followed the guide I was sent on here and undid the 3 security screws only

Here is a photo I took of mine in situ after fixing.

Now that the good weather has arrived I tackled the no heat on drivers side problem. I first cut the centre console (see photo, you cannot see the cut unless you lie on your back under the steering wheel) I then took off the black cap on the motor. I then unplugged the cable from the motor. Then I unscrewed the three mounting bolts and inspected the motor and cam. The cam has two raised buttons on each side where the problem linkage fits onto. I then drilled a small hole through the centre and made up a pin using a flat headed felt tack!, making sure that it was a tight fit in the hole I had just drilled. I then reconnected the steel linkage then fitted the plastic linkage onto the raised buttons and pushed the "pin" from the back through the drilled hole. You can do this when the motor is loose. After a bit of fiddling around, the "pin" fitted nicely. After refitting the three mounting screws and refitting the plug, I then tested the fix. After 2 weeks the fix has been ok. I exercise the motor every time I go out and the pin and linkage has stayed in place.

Finally managed to get to the motor unplugged and detached from the car......at last. I used a small screw onto the arm behind the motor so the arm coming down from above would stay on!

Put it all back together and went for a drive. I now have heat on the drivers side, although not burning hot. Still, I won't freeze on the way to work tomorrow  ;D ;D
