I bought Tall Paul's omega because I needed a car urgently and at £500 for a late 53 omega it was a steal really.
I've always been happy with the car.
I've got it just how it should drive, after doing suspension work, brake work, WIM setup, mot, full service, blah...
It's got a fresh ticket, is mechanically fine and would serve me well for some time easily
BUT
It's only a 2.2. While the 4 pot is usable, it's so dull. I hate not having some good grunt under the loud pedal, especially as I regularly have to overtake slow traffic up amersham hill.
£200 on LPG (rear end done) and she'd be a cheap to run reliable workhorse
But I keep looking at v6's and indeed v8 BMWs which aren't much worse on fuel than mine!
What to do :(

The way of the missing cylinders rarely leads to driver satisfaction. ;)
Depends if you can live with it or not really. On the one hand, you've invested in getting it into decent condition, so it seems silly to throw that away now. On the other, it might be the best time to sell.
Only you can answer it, really. I could imagine my commute would be tolerable in a 4 pot (a manual, at least), as the traffic conditions don't allow much more than trundling along anyway, but on the odd times when I want some overtaking grunt I would miss the V6, and when it comes to towing a glider trailer to Scotland, etc... ::)
The "odd times" don't happen that often, but my view is that a V6 doesn't cost much more to run, so it's a no-brainer.

Was using the 3.2 solid for about 2 months, due to 4 up touring up and town the country. Back in 2.2 now, with just me in it. I don't really miss the performance, the 2.2 still happily cruises at motorway speeds. With my up comming commute, the 2.2 will do just fine, I doubt thanks to m25/m3 traffic I'd see more than 60mph on a morning run.

Keep it as a spare James, and buy a cheap 3.2 to do up. :y

+1 :y And sure this is why the market is flooded with 4 pot omegas for sale . For a big car it needs 6 pots imo :)

I lived in Amersham for over 20 years (before escaping the SE for Lincs) and know that hill very well indeed. I had a 2.2 as a loaner when my 3.0 was poorly - so know exactly what you mean. It's actually torque that will get you up Gore Hill (that's the name of that bit of the A355) quick. I was amazed at how well modern Diesels do the job.
FYI - at the top of the hill, the exit to the right leads to a water tower which featured on an early episode of Grand Designs. I know the owners ran out of money just at the point when some serious structural issues were highlighted - not sure what the outcome was though.
There is an excellent pub close by - near to Knotty Green. It's called the "Royal Standard of Old England". VERY old - and well worth a visit. :y

Get a V6 , we have a 2.2 & a 2.6 no comparison the 2.2 is dull to drive & underpowered but being an estate is useful for the dogs, trips to the tip etc.. The 2.6 is a pleasure to drive sounds great, and always makes me smile when I drive it

Buy a 5 series, in fact there's a 535i on Autotrader right now for a grand and it's already converted to LPG.
