Title: Am I missing out?
Post by: MR MISTER on 02 December 2013, 13:31:02
I didn't buy anything on Black Friday  :(
Today is, apparently, Cyber Monday and I have no plans to buy anything online  :(
Everyone else is splashing out while I sit and don't buy anything. Will I feel better if I buy something superfluous and unnecessary?  :-\

Managed to bag a Gaypad Air with a hefty discount on Black Friday, but only because I was looking for one for the missus.  If you dont need owt then I wouldn't be worried. :y

Got a nice set of wheels listed if your moths are getting restless ::)

Personally I would be more concerned that John Lewis decided to follow Walmart/Asdas lead :o

I seem to remember it was ?369, or ?30 off the base ipad air. Not a particularly hefty discount, but by Apple's standards it may be. The retina mini had no discounts at all. Oh well, typical Apple I suppose.

Yes, everything is relative, so a few quid off the tightarsed Apple Corp is considered hefty ;D

Why do you live your life so unsustainably - make do with the basics - go for a walk - enjoy the countryside

This is how it works when my little flower wants something I consider unnecessary:

FOR: She doesn't actually need it and is being unreasonable by saying she does. It is usually top of the range when something cheaper would do exactly the same job. Saying that all her colleagues have one is just plain childish. There's not a lot of money about, so I have the moral high ground.

AGAINST: Every time I want to buy something, no matter how inexpensive,  she will give me that accusatory look. She will sulk until she gets her own way. She will tell our friends that I am denying her the one thing that she needs. I like a quiet life.

No brainer really.

And herein lies the crux of the matter.... For most blokes!  ;)  ;D

Obviously stock up on winter tyres, studded tyres, copper slip, upright single hole LPG donut tanks, conspiracy theory's, alternative medicine, buses, The OPPSING Daily Fail subscription, Liverpool ::) and all the other pointless crap designed to fill our so obviously empty heads with shite. Why? Because it's a similarly pointless way of getting Joe public to part with cash they wouldn't otherwise think about spending.

Well done Esta, keep your wedge in your pocket. Bah humbug, it's December. I hate December. >:(

;D there, that should get the pop corn going ;) ;D

I think the whole 'Black Friday' thing in this country is bizarre to be honest.  ::)

Fair enough in The States where it is part of the Thanksgiving holiday, but here it's just a random Friday where the shops have decided to have a sale.  :-\  or that's how the majority of the great unwashed will see it.  ::)

I bet if you stood in ASDA last Friday and asked people what Black Friday was all about you'd get mostly "Dunno mate, can't stop might miss out!"  ;D
