Title: Paperclip code

My EML has been coming on intermittently over the past few weeks. Comes on, clears when I turn engine off and back on again and probably won't come on again for a week or 2. Did the paperclip test trick on it this afternoon and it came up with these flashes
10 - 3 - 4

Anyone know roughly what could be wrong and what's the best way to correct it?

If I'm right with the top one .. 0340 then cam sensor is on its way out .... not sure how critical that is on a 4-pot .. :(

Easy to replace? Roughly what price would I be looking at. I'm assuming that genuine would be the best option or are there aftermarket ones that are just as good?

did mine last week 15 minutes, depends if you can source the original type if your car still has it or the modified one which is available from VX either as a part or a conversion, do not use the "genuine" from auction site.

If not changed you will have misfires in high range and sluggish pull away + it will affect fuel consumption

Sorry, you've lost me. Are there 2 types now? What's the difference between them then?

Alex when mine first went I went to VX who told me that a mod had been done, one sensor has a rectangular top the other same shape but round corners. so as you can see the fixed plug will not fit both.  Conversion kit comes with new plug, socket and 6 loose wires and most important NO instructions.  phrases like "just cut the loom" filed me with dread, so hunted till I found  the same type as mine, fitted it and all is fine. Hope that makes it a tad easier, maybe your dealer will have both types, only going from my experience.

Have just been in touch with the VX dealer and been told that if the modification hasn't bee  made they must sell a conversion kit with it. £42.05 + vat for the sensor and another £50+ for the kit. Anyone got a picture of what the modified one looks like so I can see what mine is.
