Hi people, 2001 2.2 omega have fld warning on dash have re joined cables by sensor passenger side as one was nicked a bit. When connected the warning goes on dash but lights stay in the high position. Cant use adjusters as broken, i know it needs tech 2 to check sensor but im dazzling everybody lol. Surely cant i get some replacement xenons with adjusters that work and turn them down or non xenons . Lights do on start up raise up but dont return to lower position i guess tech 2 is the only way . Any ideals Thanks. :'(

Have you checked both sensors :-\
-
If you have the warning on the dash then the lights should both drive to the lowest position so as not to dazzle people. do you know if the actual motors are working?

Have unplugged connector to front sensor but not rear.I also replaced sensor front with scrappy one. Looked ok. Have got leds in parking lights but that shouldnt matter. How do you test sensors.
-
Others may know more, but I think its the motors on the lights you need to test. If the system detects a fault and displays the message then it should point both lights down (so you can't see where your going, but don't dazzle others). If this is not happening then it could be the motors that are faulty.

Could it be that the lights where adjusted to the mot pass position with the motors at the lowest inactive position. But now the motors are working, the lights now need re adjusting to the correct mot position again, as the motors are now at the higher corrected height?
Or are we just talking incorrect motor operation? :-\

Yep i know what your saying. Have tried to adjust lights on adjusters cant see any movement from front of lens at all. I suppose i need to check them at night against a wall, but im sure when you turn on the lights the both rise together synced. Will check them tommorrow night to see how they rise and fall and if they can be adjusted again. Gotta laugh as if i ever buy one of these cars again at least i will know what to look for as ive done mostly everything on it.

I find its a bit hit and miss to get the lights to move. Usually lights on first, then start the engine and they go down then back up again. Iirc? But they don't move every time. In my experience anyway...? :-\

If only one sensor is working, you're just guessing :-\

If the warning is not present though.... I'd say the system was happy. Just need to get the headlights beam alignment sorted.

Yep had thought that as after all there are 2 sensors.I suppose tech 2 from what ive read show what sensors are working and can move the headlight motors.Any ideas how much Vauxhall charge for just hourly diagnostics.Like you said might be adjusted to high.Only real way to see beam movement is at night i guess.

Where are you ?? you might be near one of the forum members with a tech 2 .. way cheaper (and more knowledgeable) than Vx
If you stick your location in your profile .. saves being asked a zillion times :)
EDIT .. just noticed that ALL locations of everyone have disappeared !!

What E said :y
Also have rereread the first post, is the warning goes when the repaired sensor wire is connected, then likely that the busted adjusters are jamming the lights :-\
Sensibly priced solutions are either replace the adjusters or second hand units, (with the possibility of busted adjusters in those as well) :y
-
Cool, will check tommorrow night and see if i can adjust down.If not looks like will have to power down lights, remove and inspect adjuster. Will keep you all posted. Thanks, Ps i am in kent.
-
Yep, if the adjusters aren't doing anything and the beams don't adjust to minimum height when there is an error, my money is on broken adjusters within the headlights.
-
Suggest it would be better to sort out cause of error message before mucking about adjusting lights. Possibilities are arms off sensors, shagged sensors or bad connection, shagged motors, or broken wire/wiring fault between sensor and motor (had the wiring fault on old Elite Estate and had to replace a length of wire) ;)
-
If you want to test your sensors just prize the balljoint off the sensor with the lights on and move the arm up and down, if the sensors are working your lights will go up and down (providing the motors are working). I did this to narrow down my intermittent problem and it turned out to be the rear one that was faulty.

Had a look today plugged front sensor back in fld gone from dash so sensors must be ok as system happy.Had a look at adjuster both left and right look broken and just spin round.Take it these xennons on 2001 facelift need adjusters rebuild with alu adjuster as per in technical pages. They do flip up just dont adjust back down. Thanks :y
-
Those metal adjusters are EXACTLY what you need :y

Check that servos are connected,to reflectors.
